ABSTRACT The title of this study is Body Related Idioms Found in Three Best Seller Novels. This study aims to find out the types and meaning of idioms related to body also the types of idioms which were mostly appear in the novel. The theories used in this study are the theory by Palmer (1976) about types of idiom and Leech (1974) about meaning of idiom. Three best seller novels were chosen as the data source in this study. From the data there were found the idioms related to body. The idioms which were related to body could be decided by seeing the individual word which combined to be an idiom not the meaning of the idiom which was depended on the context of situation. The method of this study was library research. The data was collected by reading the novel carefully, then decide the idiom related to body, after that find the types and meaning based on the theory. The idioms found were related to body which mostly appear were phrasal verb. The meanings found in the novel are connotative meaning, conceptual meaning and affective meaning.
