What is Clare College Music Society? Clare College Music Society is one of the most highly regarded music societies in Cambridge and there are many opportunities for Clare students to get involved in music. As well as regular recitals on Monday lunchtimes and Thursday evenings in the College Chapel, orchestral and choral concerts are held in West Road Concert Hall every term. Recent performances have included major works such as Tchaikovsky's Violin Concerto and Beethoven's Third Symphony. A series of CCMS Opera productions is now in its 6th year, and the Clare Players concert series offers a platform for all Clare musicians to perform. CCMS is also going on tour to France in July 2012, where they will perform Haydn's Creation in great venues such as the Blois Cathedral and the 12th Century Aubazine Abbey. Thursday Evening Recitals 8.00pm 10th November: Amy Lyddon (voice) Jeremy Cole (piano) Schumann: Frauenliebe und leben French songs (Duration approx. 60mins) 24th November: Laura Snowden (guitar) Varied programme of solo classical guitar music, including: Frederic Mompou: Suite Compostelana Benjamin Britten: Nocturne (Duration - approx. 80mins of music in 2 halves of 40mins each) Thursday Cellars Sessions 10.00pm 3 rd November: The main band for this first session will be The Coach House Company, a Folk Band formed of four 2 nd year Cambridge music students. They will play a varied programme of folk instrumental music as well as covers of folk songs. (Entry for Thursday recitals and Cellars Sessions is 2). 5
