INAZUMA Rock Festival Event Overview 1. Purpose of Attendance To promote the sister state relationship between Shiga and Michigan as well as the promotion of Shiga prefecture and subsequently JCMU. The booth is meant to be a fun and encouraging place for Japanese visitors to the event to learn more about the sister-state relationship and have fun in English. 2. Collaborating Organizations Shiga Prefectural Government Japan Center for Michigan Universities 3. Dates September 13 th 10:00-20:00 September 14 th 9:30-20:00 4. Parking JCMU can acquire the parking pass number from Okubo-san from the Prefectural office. Be sure to obtain at least three days in advance. 5. Food Food will be for sale by vendors in the free area. 6. Expected Visitors over two days to the whole venue 20,000 7. JCMU s Plan To provide materials and interaction over the two day event for visitors to the booth with fun and interesting activities and informative posters/pamphlets. Space: 2.7m X2.7 m 8. Event Schedule Wednesday, September 3 rd Contact the Shiga Prefectural office to arrange to get the parking pass from Okubo-san. Friday, September 12 th 13:00-20:00 PM Bring the materials listed page 6, for Friday. Saturday, September 13 th 7:00-7:30 Load the car with materials listed on page 6 under materials to bring on Saturday morning. 7:30 Depart from JCMU with materials and volunteers 8:40 Arrive at venue 8:50-9:15 Unload vehicle and park car as necessary in the designated parking area 9:15-9:59 Set up booth 10:00 Event opens to the public 11:00-14:00 Volunteer take one hour shifts to get lunch 19:00 Start closing down event booth. Be sure to pack the car with things listed under materials to be brought back to JCMU on Saturday night, page 6. 19:40 Depart from Venue early to avoid traffic. Sunday, September 14 th 7:30-7:40 Pack materials listed on page 7 under Materials to bring on Sunday, September 14 th Morning 7:45 Depart from JCMU 8:50 Arrive at venue and park 9:00-9:30 Carry materials over to the event booth and set up laptop and things for Sunday 9:30 Event open to the public 11:00-2:00 Volunteers take one hour shifts to go get lunch and check out other booths 6:30-7:15 Close booth and pack the car. Activities for the September Inazuma Rock Festival 1. Michigan Map A large map of Michigan, attached to a large piece of thick cardboard. People can put a pin in the map where they lived or visited in Michigan. 2. Michigan Mystery Box People can try to win a prize by reaching into the box and guessing what they grab. If they are correct, they can get a sticker or stamp. This box will have the following things inside: o A Fake Cherry o A fake apple o A Petoskey stone o A toy guitar o A beer bottle opener o A fishing bobber o Small Kellogg s cereals box o Toy Car Each thing represents something famous from Michigan. The person working in the booth can explain what each object means. 3. Pure Michigan Videos All videos will be shown on a laptop at the booth. This will use one of the outlets. 4. English Games Worksheets will be provided by the English teaching staff. Games like English Shiritori and word searches. 5. Hikone Carom Game A carom board will be set up for people to play. Winners can get a prize of a stamp or sticker. 8
