Figure X-DVB-S/FM twin Electronic equipment is not household waste in accordance with directive 2002/96/EC OF THE EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT AND THE COUNCIL of 27 th January 2003 on used electrical and electronic equipment, it must be disposed of properly. At the end of its service life, take this unit for disposal at a relevant official collection point. 2
1 Description 2 Programming with the HE software 1 Description The X-DVB-S/FM twin module is designed for the procession of 2 digital satellite radio programmes into 2 standard FM signals within the frequency range 87,5 108 MHz. As one result of the Direct Digital technology, audio parameters of inconceivable quality (intermodulation distance, distortion factor) can be reached. Thanks to the implemented RDS unit, the station name is transmitted in the FM channel after programming the module. Each card is equipped with an electronic level control for the compensation of different output levels. The X-DVB-S/FM twin can be used in the V16, X-8 twin, X-5 twin and X-2 twin base units. 2 Programming with the HE software 2.1 Basics The programming of the X-DVB-S/FM twin is only possible in combination with the HE programming software! The complete programming of the module and a channel search is only possible in combination with the HE programming software. To be able to select the X-DVB- S/FM twin module in the window overview of the base unit, the card has to be activated at options favoured plug-in cards : At initial operation you should ensure, that all output signals have the same level and that the levels are adapted to the requirements of a possibly existing head end. Please note: Authorized and qualified personnel only, is allowed to change the plug-in modules. Before this, the operating instructions, and especially the security advises, of the used base unit have to be read and followed. All works have to be done according to the security standards DIN VDE 0701, part 1 and 200. 3
2 Programming with the HE software 2 Programming with the HE software After the installation of the cards, the following exemplary window appears in the HE programming software: 2.2 RF - output parameters with HE programming software If you click on the button Details, the following window appears: You can choose the transponder, which contains the requested digital satellite radio station, in the pulldown menu below channel A and channel B. Before this, you have to select the needed satellite band and polarisation at input settings. 4 Here you can adjust the RF output parameters. You have the possibility to (de-) activate the output of the card and to determine the output frequency with the insertion via keypad. Further on you can configure the audio-mode as well as the audio volume in a range of -9 db to +6 db. To write the configuration / changes in the plug-in card, you have to click on the button Program card.
2 Programming with the HE software 2 Programming with the HE software After the successful programming of the module, a channel search has to be done to choose one of the radio stations on the transponder: 2.3 RDS-Information The X-DVB-S/FM twin offers the possibility to feed RDS data to the radio program. The configuration of those data is done in the submenu RDS information. The SAT input parameters are written automatically in into the field input parameters after choosing the transponder in the overview of the base unit. These parameters are stored in the SAT database, which is part of the HE programming software and can be updated on the ASTRO homepage. It is possible to insert the station name, the type of program and the program identification. An (de-) activating of the traffic program identification is also possible. 5
2 Programming with the HE software 22 Programming with the HE software 2.4 Level adjustment The level adjustment of the X-DVB-S/FM twin is done via HE programming software. If you push the button level control in the window parameters of the plug-in card, the following window appears: 2.5 Testing the input signal quality The X-DVB-S/FM twin features the testing of the input signal quality. Therefore you have to click on Check signal quality in the window Parameters of the plug-in card. Now the C/N, the C/N reserve and the BER is displayed. 2.6 RDS and manual program choice At options in the window Parameters of the plug-in card, the RDS can be (de-) activated. It is also possible to choose a program by inserting the audio- and PCR-PID hexadecimal. After pushing the button Parameter read, the current values are read out of the module and will be displayed. Changed values have to be transferred to the module by clicking on Parameter write. First off all, the current state of the module has to be read out by clicking on Read Options. With the button Write Options, changed values will be written into the plug-in card. 6
3 Advices for KC 3 users 4 Technical Data 3 Advices for KC 3 users As already mentioned in chapter 2, the programming of the X-DVB-S/FM twin is only possible via HE programming software. Anyhow it is displayed in the KC 3 as TDVBS-FM. After plugging the KC 3 handheld on the base unit, the start menu appears. The software version is displayed. Please give this number to our customer service if you have questions regarding the X-DVB-S/PAL twin card. To see this menu later once again, you have to plug the KC 3 out and in again By pressing the cursor keys or you get into the menu for adjusting the parameters of the base unit. By pressing the cursor keys or once again, you get to the slot with the X-DVB-S/FM twin - module. Line 1: At this point, only the state of the plug-in card is displayed.. 01: TDVBS-FMA ok Use PC-software! 01: TDVBS-FMA E02 Use PC-software! Card is working faultlessly No SAT signal or faulty configuration If any other error message appears, please contact our customer service. 7 Typ X- DVB-S/FM twin Order no. 330 643 QPSK-Demodulator: Input Freqency range [MHz] 950 2150 Input level [dbµv] 40 80 SAT IF input [Ω] F-Buchse, 75 Return loss [db] > =10 AFC-catch range automatic adjustment SAT IF bandwidth [MHz] 36 Spectrum shape cos-roll-off [%] 35 Input data rate [mbaud] 2 35, adjustibel Viterbi-Decodierung 1/2; 2/3; 3/4; 5/6; 7/8, (according to DVB-Standard) automatically/manuell FM-Modulator Output frequency [MHz] 87.5...108 MHz, step by step selection [khz] 10 RDS data 8 signs Output level [dbµv] max. 98 Intermodulation-distance [db] > 70 Return loss [db] > 18 Signal to noise ratio [db] > 65 (mono: 73) unw. signal to noise ratio [db] > 65 (mono: 79) Preemphasis [µs] 50 Stereo cross talk attenuation [db] 60 Distortion factor [%] < 0,05 Frequency response [db] < 1 Common data Temp.-range [ C] 0 +50
