Introduction Congratulations! You have expanded the capabilities of your GENETX processor by purchasing the DigiTech Control X Foot Controller. The Control X is your key to getting the most out of your GENETX processor as it offers real time control over your sound. The Control X includes 8 footswitches, a 2 digit numeric display, tuning LEDs, and an expression pedal, all housed in a rugged steel chassis. Your DigiTech Control X was carefully assembled and packaged at the factory. Before you proceed any further, make sure the following items are included: User s Guide Control X Foot controller 25 5 pin DIN cable DigiTech warranty card Please save all packing materials.they were designed to protect the unit from damage during shipping. Numbered Switches - Select presets within the selected bank on the GENETX processor. 2. Bank Down Switch - This switch is used to decrement through banks. 3. Expression Pedal - Adjusts the value of any parameters assigned to it in real time.the V-Switch feature will engage or disengage the wah effect, overriding the current pedal assignment. 4. Bank Up/Tuner Switch - Advances the GENETX processor to the next bank of presets. Pressing and holding this switch accesses the tuner mode. 5. Display - Provides a visual indication of the currently active Bank, Preset or note played depending on the selected mode. 6.Tuner LEDs - Indicate whether the note being played is sharp, flat, or in tune when the tuner mode is engaged. The far right Tuner LED is also used to indicate when V-Switch is active in a preset. 7. Effect Switches - Change amp channels and turn on and off the Chorus/Mod and Delay effects in the currently selected preset.

Rear Panel The rear panel of the Control X has one 5 pin DIN jack used to connect the Control X to the GENETX processor with the supplied 5 pin DIN cable. Connections Connecting the Control X to your GENETX Processor is very easy. Just follow these simple steps when connecting the Control X: 1. Begin with the power to your GENETX Processor turned off. 2. Using the supplied 5-pin DIN cable, connect from the output jack located on the rear panel of the Control X to the MIDI/Foot Controller jack on the back of your GENETX Processor. 3. Make sure the MIDI/Foot Controller switch on the GENETX processor is set to the Foot Controller option and NOT to MIDI. 4. Power up the GENETX Processor. When the display returns to the current program number, the Control X is ready to use. If the Display reads Pf, or your Expression Pedal fails to function, see the calibration procedure in this manual. Bank Up/Tuner Foot Switch This foot switch will advance through the user banks of presets. Each successive press of the Bank Up Switch will advance to the next bank of presets. Once a new bank has been selected, the 3 available preset numbers will be shown in the Display and the 1, 2, and 3 switches will flash prompting you to select a preset within that bank. If no preset selection is made within 5 seconds of selecting a new bank, the GENETX processor will revert back to the previously selected bank and preset. Tuner To activate the tuner, press and hold the Bank Up switch for 2 seconds.the display will briefly read tu followed by the tuner reference, indicating that the GENETX processor is in tuner mode. Begin by playing a note on your instrument. The numeric display will show the note being played.the 7 LEDs beneath the display will provide an indication as to whether the note is flat, sharp, or in tune.when the single green LED in the center is lit, the note is in tune. LEDs to the left indicate your note is flat and LEDs to the right indicate your note is sharp. Exit tuner mode by pressing any footswitch.

Numbered Foot Switches The 3 numbered foot switches will access one of the three presets in the currently selected bank. Each of these switches has an LED directly above it to indicate the currently selected preset. Pressing the currently active Footswitch will bypass all effects in the GENETX processor, delivering a clean, unprocessed signal. Effect Foot Switches These switches correspond to the Amp Channel, Chorus/Mod, and Delay effects in the connected GeNetX processor. Pressing these switches will toggle between the Green, Red, and Yellow Amp Channels (indicated by the color of the LED), and turn the Chorus/Mod and Delay effects on and off on the fly respectively. Each switch has an LED directly above it to indicate the status of the effect. Pressing and holding the Delay footswitch for 2 seconds while it is active will change its function to a tap-tempo footswitch. The Delay switch LED will now flash at the rate of the current delay time. Tapping this switch will set the delay time at the rate it is tapped. To exit this function, press and hold the Delay footswitch for 2 seconds. It will then return to its on/off function. Expression Pedal The Expression pedal is used for real time control of effect parameters.the parameters the Expression pedal controls are set up in the connected GeNetX device. The expression pedal also includes V-Switch feature. Activating the V-Switch will change the expression pedal s function from controlling the assigned parameters of a preset to controlling the wah effect in the connected GeNetX device. To activate the V-Switch function, rock the pedal all the way forward (toe down) and apply pressure on the toe. The far right Tuner LED will light indicating that V-Switch is now active and the expression pedal is now controlling the wah.to disengage the wah effect, just apply pressure on the toe again. The far right Tuner LED will turn off and the expression pedal will return to controlling the assigned parameters again. Assigning a parameter to the Control X Expression pedal is performed on the GENETX processor. Expression Pedal Calibration Procedure The first time the Control X is connected to a GeNetX device, you will need to calibrate the Expression pedal as outlined in the following steps:. 1. Enter the Pedal Calibration menu in the Utility section of your GENETX processor (the Control X automatically enters calibration mode when connected to the GENETX Processor for the first time).

2.When the display reads pf (pedal forward), rock the pedal forward to the toe down position and press the lit #1 footswitch on the Control X. 3.When the display reads pb (pedal back), rock the pedal back to the toe up position and press the lit #2 footswitch on the Control X. Note: If the display reads er, an error has occurred and steps 2 and 3 should be repeated. 4.The display now reads PS indicating that the GENETX processor is ready to set the sensitivity setting for the V-Switch. Rock the expression pedal forward and apply the desired amount of pressure to activate the V-Switch to the toe of the expression pedal.then rock the pedal back to the toe up position.the Display will show the V-Switch sensitivity value that you applied. 5. Press down on the toe of the expression pedal to audition the setting.the display will read dn when the V-Switch activates and then show the sensitivity value. Use the lit Delay/Tap footswitch to increase or the lit #3 footswitch to decrease the sensitivity to suit your needs. 6. Press the #2 footswitch or exit the Utility section of your GENETX processor. Note: The Expression Pedal can be disabled by pressing the Amp Channel switch when in Calibration mode.
