Welcome to Lisbon Screenings 09 Launched in 2006, the Lisbon Screenings is a parallel event to IndieLisboa - International Independent Film Festival. The sessions are exclusively destined to professionals and they intend to spread and increase the visibility of the Portuguese cinema. At Lisbon Screenings we are going to show an attractive selection of new independent portuguese films to international buyers, festival s programmers and journalists invited exclusively to this sessions. Portuguese recent films (even if they don t belong to the official programme) of different genres (fiction, animation, documentary, experimental) will be presented in a special selection. We intend to take advantage of the synergies and to create the right conditions to the visibility of the Portuguese cinema, concentrating in the same place films, producers, directors and international (deciders), promoting meetings between both. This way, we intend to reduce the difficulty that each producer has to promote his film to potential buyers or programmers. In this Lisbon Screening s edition, the invited country is Ireland and we are going to present a selection of it s most recent and stimulating independent short films. This session is organized in collaboration with the Cork Film Festival and with the participation of the Irish Film Board. We sincerely hope that the films selected to this edition of Lisbon Screenings will be a good opportunity for the discovery of our cinema. We wish you all a wonderful projection! 3
