IT S SUMMER TIME AGAIN
Dear Parent, Summer vacations can be immensely beneficial for a child provided they are used judiciously and for the same we need the support of parent to closely monitor the child and be involved with them throughout. Cartoon watching is fun. This is the age wherein they enjoy the same. But make it a good learning experience. Just change the language from Hindi to English. Pick words from it repeat the same words over and over again. Try to add one word in the child s vocabulary daily. Indulge in healthy communication it can be on global warming, pollution, moral values, importance of being disciplined, etc. If not possible to go out of station do take child to local places and tell him or her to write do take child to local places and tell him/her to write a travelogue sort of piece. Say visit to town park, mall, India gate, any local market this is just to improve their expression while writing and their retrospection skills. Write at least a page daily of cursive hand writing. The same can be an extract from newspaper. Take child for fine dining at least twice. Let them explore different cuisine and encourage them to place an order and clear the query regarding their order. Authentic ingredients with their correct pronunciation can be very beneficial Go for long walks early in the morning. Let them have a feel of nature before the sun is out. The whiff of fresh air, the sounds of birds. Connect with nature makes them a way creative in their approach. Take good care of your child s health and hygiene. Avoid heavy and oily food and increase intake of fresh fruits and water to keep your child well hydrated and energetic. Use the given activities as an opportunity to spend quality time together. Let your child take the lead and use his/her imagination, creativity and knowledge to do the assigned task. The role of the parent is to be a facilitator and guide to steer the child in the right direction. He will find his own destination.
MATHEMATICS Visit to the Big Bazaar with your parents. Purchase your favourite items. Then after coming back to home add up the prices of all the items, you purchased. ( Addition practice) Car plates: Using number plates identify the odd and even numbers on the cars of other people in your neighbourhood. Play tambola with your cousins (for increasing knowledge of numbers and enhancing listening skills). Make your innovative and colourful pocket diary of tables 2 to 12 (learn them daily). The next time you go to a restaurant for dinner, hang on to the menu while you are waiting for the meal and play some maths games like- find out the least expensive item on the menu, find out the all the items that cost between 60 to 100 and so on. Do exercise 3.4 and exercise 3.5 of Pearls book (Chapter- Addition) in your fair copy. EVS
Nature walk Let the children play stomp in puddles, climb trees, dig in the dirt go on a log hunt, make mud pies, make a daisy chain create a garden for fairies. Playing outside makes kids smarter, healthier and happier. Grow something Indoor or out, letting your kids grow their own flowers, herbs, or vegetables creates a long-term learning activity that encourages monitoring and observation. Plant seeds in an empty egg carton or grow a houseplant in water from a carrot, pineapple, radish, or last night s avocado pit. Do all plants need soil? Ask why! Project on traditional dresses Every country has its own special dress. It is called the traditional dress of that country. On an A3 size sheet, paste pictures of the traditional dresses of a few countries (minimum 8) learn the names and dresses of those countries and present it in the class. Groovy garden Learn about different ways that you can be green and help the environment while caring for a garden. Plant a sapling and water it every day. Throw the garbage in the dustbin. Use the waste R.O water to water the plants and the same water can be used to mop the floor etc.
ENGLISH MY LITTLE COMIC BOOK Let us make this summer vacation even more interesting by designing a comic strip. Give your imagination a shape and jot it down on the paper and see that character coming alive, you are free to give the lines of your choice to the character and let it behave the way you want. Things that you need to consider is you have to create your own questions related to the comic strip with answers and use the opposite words done in the class in that strip and frame questions related to opposites. Go ahead and make an interesting comic book, name it and use pastel sheets for the same. HINDI
