Arunima Sinha Arunima Sinha is a famous national level volleyball player from Uttar Pradesh who became the first woman amputee to climb Mount Everest. In 2011, an unforeseen incident took place in her life, which changed her life altogether. She describes the event as her darkest hour in which she was pushed out of a moving train by aging of robbers. I turned my artificial leg into my strength and stubbornly chose the most difficult sport for myself, she says about her joining the Eco Everest expedition group where she got training under Bachendri Pal. Many a time, she was advised to give up climbing. But she stoically refused it and continued her journey with high spirits and positive thoughts.
