1 A CONCERT FOR SYRIA EDITION MCGILL I MEDICI ORCHESTRA WHAT WHERE WHEN WHY HOW Concert for Syria is a bene t concert to help displaced Syrians in Syria. Program: Joseph Haydn's Symphony No. 104, "London Symphony" and Franz Schubert's Sixth Symphony performed by Orchester I Medeci di McGill e Church of St. Andrew and St. Paul 3415 Redpath Street, Montreal, H3G 2G2 Sunday, March 11, Concert at 4 pm, the doors will open at 3:30 pm THE CHURCH OF ST. ANDREW AND S T. PAUL Since the beginning of the con ict more than 5 years ago, the number of lives uprooted or negatively affected has reached alarming proportions. According to the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), there are reportedly 8.7 million internally displaced people in Syria. In addition, 4.8 million Syrians have ed their country. ese numbers demonstrate that almost half of the Syrian population (23 million) is in urgent need of humanitarian aid. Originally established as a cultural and social club in 1976, Le centre culturel syrien was re-organized in 2015 to help alleviate the suffering of those exposed to the consequences of the brutal con ict in Syria. rough its 2015 edition of A Concert for Syria, performed by the I Medici di McGill Orchestra in Montreal's Notre- Dame Basilica, Le centre culturel syrien was able to raise $80,000. Proceeds from the event were donated to Oxfam-Québec and Development and Peace, established organizations that are providing humanitarian aid, including clean water, food, and clothing, to those in need in Syria. For its edition, Le centre culturel syrien, in collaboration with the I Medici di McGill Orchestra, aims to once again raise funds for internally displaced Syrians as well as for Syrian refugees living in Montréal. e proceeds will be donated to the following organizations: McGill University's scholarship fund for Syrian refugees in Montréal e Jesuit Refugee Service (JRS Canada) Le centre culturel syrien PAGE 11
L orchestre IMedici di McGill The orchestra I Medici di McGill (McGill Doctors) was founded in 1989. It is mainly composed of musical talents from McGill University's Faculty of Medicine, as well as the faculty's colleagues and friends who are passionate about medicine and music. I Medici di McGill Orchestra A CONCERT FOR SYRIA 2015 The orchestra, which is in its 30th season, has more than 65 musicians. Over the years, more than 400 instrumentalists have collaborated with the ensemble. Since 2014, the ensemble has been under the musical direction of Gilles Auger, who succeeded Iwan Edwards (2000-2014) and Wanda Kaluzny (1989-2000). http://www.imedici.mcgill.ca. PAGE 12

6 ONLINE PORTAL FOR SYRIAN CHARITABLE ORGANIZATIONS This centralized online platform will allow generous donors to support a significant number of approved charities working in several Syrian cities. The needs envisaged are numerous: orphanages, women victims of violence, visual and hearing impairment, mental health and various medical needs. This will be a highly effective and transparent portal for charitable projects. PAGE 17

8 CCS MCGILL EDUCATION FUND In, we plan to continue our successful partnership with McGill University. The Scholarship Fund for Syrian Students that we have helped establish totals more than $60,000. We hope to grow this fund to offer a number scholarships and workshops, and to support research projects related to Syrian refugees. PAGE 19
9 SYRIAN BOOKS FOR QUÉBEC LIBRARIES Books are a uniquely portable magic. Stephen King The Syrian Cultural Center will collaborate with Quebec libraries wishing to create a collection of Syrian books or enrich those collections they already have. PAGE 20
