St. Edward the Confessor Parish School 2015 Summer Reading List Preschool-8 th Grade Research has shown that the single greatest factor in predicting reading success is whether a child is read to when young. Note: The following books are only suggestions. Please feel free to add any books that are appropriate for your reader. The staff in the children s area of the public library will also have many wonderful suggestions for you. Although the lists are separated, it is okay to read off of other lists as well. 2 nd -8 th Grade Suggested Book List Summer 2015 The following list is a suggested book list for grades 2-8. When school resumes, your child will be asked to share a book he or she has read over the summer. In sharing the book, you child will discuss likes and dislikes of the book, interesting details, favorite part/character, etc. Books are listed by Accelerated Reader (AR) level but please know that an AR quiz will not be expected. The levels are provided as a guide to assist in choosing a book at an appropriate reading level. This is only a suggested list. Feel free to choose other books not on the list. For those grade levels that have an additional reading requirement, further directions are given under special directions.
