If the path is beautiful, first confirm where it leads. If the destination is beautiful, do not check how the path is. keep walking. February 2 T&P Department 3 MIT Corner 3 Book Review 4 Movie Review 4 Place to visit 5 The Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) achieved a major milestone on Feb. 14 with a successful record-setting launch of 104 satellite son a single rocket. The Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV) blasted off from India's Satish Dhawan Space Centre at 10:58 p.m. EST (0358 GMT on Feb. 15) with three satellites from India and 101 smaller Nano satellites (also called nanosats) from five other countries: the U.S., the Netherlands, Israel, Kazakhstan and Switzerland. This number crushes the previous record of 37 satellites sent into orbit aboard a single Russian Dnepr rocket in June 2014. With a combined payload of about 3,040 lbs. (1,380 kilograms), the mission aimed to launch the Cartosat-2 series satellite for Earth observation and the other 103 spacecraft into polar sun-synchronous orbit at an altitude of 314 miles (505 kilometers). Eighty-eight of the 101 Nano satellites that were launched into space belonged to the U.S.-based Earth-observing company Planet. Measuring only 12 inches long by 4 inches wide by 4 inches high (30 by 10 by 10 centimeters), these tiny satellites, also called Doves, will allow the ISRO The Space Elites Saurodeep Chatterjee company to image the entire Earth every day, according to a statement from Planet". The launch of such a large number of satellites required a specialized release strategy involving three stages. The three larger satellites belonging to India were deployed LAUNCH OF SPACE SHUTTLE first "axially along the vehicle," followed by 81 of the nanosats, released in a radial direction away from the vehicle. Finally, the last 20 nanosats successfully separated in a different sequence. All 104 satellites have been very precisely injected into orbit reiterating the ISRO's capability in handling complex missions" ISRO officials said during the live broadcast following the launch. India's Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, also congratulated the ISRO for a successful launch. "This remarkable feat by @isro is yet another proud moment for our space scientific community and the nation. India salutes our scientists," Modi said in a tweet. The agency, which had its operating budget increased by 23% this year, despite cuts to space programmed globally, is also developing plans to send a spacecraft on the three-month journey to Venus and another to Jupiter, which would take more than two years. India, which in 1980 became just the sixth nation to launch its own rocket, has long made space research a priority. India's first prime minister, Jawaharlal Nehru, personally supervised the country s efforts in the area, seeing an affinity between a scientific outlook and the rational, secular worldview he hoped to impose on a nation riven by caste and religious divisions. India is also racing Elon Musk s company Space X to develop a fully reusable spacecraft Avatar but it estimated to take another nine years to reach that goal. After the achievement of this feat and the earlier launch of Mangalyaan India which was considered to be thrifty space organization of a developing nation with no economic and technological power is now creating a strong blip on the space elite radar.

P A G E 2 TECHNO-FREAK SONY A1E HD ROLED TV Naman Rathi Sony revealed its flagship TV of 2017,the XBR-A1E Bravia 4K OLED TV at CES 2017. The launch confirmed Sony s rumoured, big shift in display technology, for the living room. OLED TVs have been LG s thing over the past several years, with most other TV manufacturers focusing on LCD panels. But now finally there s some pretty significant competition coming in. Sony says that moving to OLED allows it to offer a TV with unprecedented black levels, rich and lifelike colours, dynamic contrast, blur-less image, and a wide viewing angle. LG would probably disagree with the whole unprecedented thing, but it probably holds true compared to Sony s previous televisions. Sony isn t actually producing OLED screens, they re likely being provided by LG Display (which is separate from LG Electronics). The company declined to identify the vendor of its OLED displays. The EESS Society organized an event The Concluding Point on 4 th of February, 2017 in the D-Block Auditorium. Support for Dolby Vision HDR is built in, and a chip called the 4K HDR Processor X1 Extreme powers the whole thing. The TV is very, very slim. There aren t conventional speakers visible anywhere. Instead, Sony came up with something it is calling Acoustic Surface sound technology. Sony claims this approach produces a wide sound and image synchronization from all angles, even off to the sides. The A1E Bravia series will be available in 55, 65, and 77 inches. Sony isn t yet saying how much it will cost. LG s OLEDs range from $2,500 (55 inches) way up to $20,000 for Signature G6 TV (77 inches). So it s rather difficult to guess what the asking price on these will be. Sony also hasn t announced a release date, though TVs revealed at CES typically launch by spring. LAUNCH OF OLED TV MIT IN FEBRUARY THE CONCLUDING POINTS Sophiya Qamar TEAM OF THE CONCLUDING POINTS The event comprised of two rounds: The first round was a group discussion round in which participants were divided into groups of six students each. The second round, which was a debate round included a surprise. In this round the judges decided that the participants who have chosen to speak for the motion shall speak against it and vice-versa. The first position for this event was bagged by Sanket Sharma of EC, First year. Second position was secured by Siddhant Sinha of EC, Third year and the third position was obtained by Kartik Vaish of ME, Second year. Two consolation prizes were also awarded to Somya Trivedi of EE, Third year and Syed Shabad of B.Pharma, Third year. BOOK REVIEW P A G E 4 Divyansh Goel Title: Khullam Khulla Author: Rishi Kapoor (With Meena Iyer) Publisher: Harper Collins Genre: Autobiography Ratings: 4.1/10 Plot: Rishi Kapoor s autobiography Khullam Khulla (with Meena Iyer), published by Harper Collins is a flashback into his career and his personal life including his relationships. Rather than following a chronological sequence of events, Khullam Khulla looks at various aspects of Rishi Kapoor s life from his point of view. The book deals with subtle yet important points like pursuing a career in films which was almost inevitable for him, being the first star kid of B-town, his father s influence, his equations with his siblings, his career hits and misses etc. Most chapters straddle multiple decades of his life with spicy anecdotes and insights. The story-telling is like a reeling camera that probes right inside Rishi Kapoor s world and picks out his interactions with the various members of his family, friends, rivals, his girlfriend with whom he had a traumatic break-up, and associates. It also signifies about how each person and incident played an influential role in his career and life.the book is all about the transformation of a star kid to the Dhapliwale and then into a perfect father as what Ranbir Kapoor would say. MOVIE REVIEW Srashti Bhatnagar Title: Jolly LLB2 Cast: Akshay Kumar, Huma Qureshi, Anu Kapoor, Saurabh Shukla. Director: Subhash Kapoor Release Date: 10 th February, 2017 Genre: Comedy, Drama. Rating: 4/5 Plot: Jolly LLB2 starring Akshay Kumar enough homage to the first movie of the franchise, while being different as well. Akshay Kumar as Jagdishwar Mishra plays the role of a money-minded lawyer. The first half of the film deals with humour revolving around Jolly s drunk wife (Huma Qureshi) and Advocate Mathur (Annu Kapoor). The plot takes a more serious turn when Jolly is ridden with guilt when he dupes a woman trying to engage a lawyer to file a case of wrongful encounter of her husband and she commits suicide. After this Jolly takes up the case, suffering numerous hurdles, indignation and at one point risking his life. Eventually he fights the corrupt system and succeeds in proving the worth and power of the legal system in the country. Fragmented comedy is sprinkled throughout the movie, even during the more serious second half. You may miss Arshad Warsi but Akshay Kumar does a nice job of being upto the expectations.it is a solid 140minutes of entertainment certainly worth your time.
