SYNOPSIS From the Producers of The Rebel, Clash (Bay Rong) reunites lead actors Johnny Nguyen and Veronica Ngo in a contemporary martial arts extravaganza. Directed by Le Thanh Son, who served as assistant director on Charlie Nguyen s The Rebel and Luu Huynh s acclaimed The White Silk Dress, Clash redefines Vietnamese cinema and sets the bar for a new wave of action films. Trinh (Ngo) is a mercenary forced to complete a series of missions in order to save her kidnapped daughter. She enlists the aid of several other mercenaries, including Quan (Nguyen), a man she becomes romantically involved with. Trinh and Quan s relationship becomes complicated as it becomes evident that their motives are not the same.
CAST BIOGRAPHIES Johnny Tri Nguyen Johnny Tri Nguyen (Vietnamese: Nguyễn Chánh Minh Trí, born February 16, 1974 in Binh Duong Province, South Vietnam) is a Vietnamese American film and television actor, stunt double, and martial artist. He left Vietnam at the age of 8 with his family, mother, father, older brother, and older sister and moved to Los Angeles, CA. He is half Vietnamese and half Chinese, with his mother being Chinese. Johnny Nguyen comes from a family with deep roots in the Vietnamese entertainment industry. His uncle is Nguyen Chanh Tin, a legendary Vietnamese actor, while his older brother is Charlie Nguyen, who directed the recent hit The Rebel. His acting roles include the martial arts films Tom- Yum-Goong and Cradle 2 the Grave. His work as a stunt double includes the role of Spider-Man in Spider-Man 2 and as the Green Goblin in the first feature film. He practices lien feng kwon (which was founded by his grandfather), wushu, tae kwon do, tai chi, aikido, and vovinam. Johnny has been working in the Vietnamese film industry to produce The Rebel, a period action drama set in 1920s French-colonial Vietnam, which he also co-directed, co-wrote and stars in. He is said to be divorced from his first wife Cathy Viet Thi, whom he has two daughters with, and is now said to be dating the The Rebel's lead actress Ngo Thanh Van.

PRODUCTION BIOGRAPHIES LE THANH SON Director Born in Ho Chi Minh City, Viet Nam, Le Thanh Son has a degree in Opera Vocals at the Music Conservatory of Ho Chi Minh City and a degree in Directing at the College of Film and Theatre, Ho Chi Minh City, and graduated at the top of both schools. Son also participated in a short term internship at the University of Southern California (USC). He currently directs several film projects. From 1995 to 2004 Son played several roles in various bands such as bass player for Little Wings band, Metronome, Burned by the Sun, as well as an organizer for the Saigon Rock Fan Club (RFC). Since 2004, Son has Assistant Directed several feature films such as Ao Lua Ha Dong ( White Silk Dress ) which received the Audience Choice Award at the Pusan Film Festival in Korea, and Dong Mau Anh Hung ( The Rebel ) which received the Audience Choice Award at the Los Angeles Asian Pacific Film Festival. Aside from feature film, Son has also written and directed short films and commercials. In 2005 he was awarded the Silver Kite Award for his thesis film Toi La Ai? ( Who am I? ). Son made his directorial feature film debut with Chanh Phuong Films latest project, Bay Rong ( Clash ) released theatrically in Viet Nam on December 18, 2009.
REVIEWS Johnny Tri Nguyen s newest film Clash grossed 11.5 billion dong (US$ 620,000), a record for holiday season-released locally made film. It opened in Vietnam last December 18, 2009 together with big-time Hollywood productions such as Avatar, Alvin and the Chipmunks and Sherlock Holmes. Despite going against these big budgeted international films, Clash performed well beyond expectations. The movie will bring back into the big screen Nguyen and his real-life partner, Veronica Ngo. With Vietnam s lack of a traditional Christmas market for local films, the movie s success has encourage the country s fledgling movie industry. A representative of Megastar in Ho Chi Minh City said The movie is still attracting audiences. They have to buy tickets at least one week in advance and this situation may continue further. The goal of $1 million will surely be fulfilled. The movie is expected to be released internationally within the year. Under the direction of Le Tranh Son, the movie revolves around Triinh (played by Ngo), a mercenary whose daughter was kidnapped and is now forced to accomplish several assignments to save her. She recruits other mercenaries for the jobs including Quan (played by Nguyen). She falls in love for Quan but later finds out that he also has his own agenda to accomplish. As a veteran Hollywood stuntman and martial arts actor, Nguyen choreographs the action sequences of the film. He got his first notable exposure in the international scene when he played a role in Tony Jaa s 2005 film Tom Yum Goong ( The Protector ).
