Dear Patrons, Donors, Music Lovers, and Supporters, It is with great pleasure that I welcome all of you to the 63rd Season of the Garden State Philharmonic Orchestra. I am so excited to be working with this wonderful group of musicians, board members, staff, volunteers, and concert attendees. I have been involved with music my entire life and my greatest passion is bringing exciting musical concerts to audiences and through this music, changing their life for the better. The Garden State Philharmonic has such a rich tradition of being vitally important to the region. Through our Youth Orchestras, our Youth Chorus, our Adult Chorus, and our professional Orchestra, we continually strive to bring you meaningful and moving concert experiences. Our goals for the future involve even more community interaction and a commitment to showcasing the finest musicians from throughout the Tri-State area, while incorporating the energy and vitality of young musicians recently graduated from the top music programs in the United States through our new Next Generation Orchestra program. I invite you to join us on this wonderful journey as we take the Garden State Philharmonic into a new era of exciting and engaging community outreach activities and concert programming. Discovering the music of Debussy and those he inspired, the Garden State Philharmonic will honor the centennial year of Claude Debussy through his sublime symphonic poem Prelude a l apres-midi d un faune as well as what has been touted the most beautiful piece ever written, Clair de lune. The Garden State Philharmonic is pleased to welcome solo pianist, Spencer Myer who will be performing Saint-Saens Piano Concerto No. 2 in G minor as well as Debussy s Clair de lune. Celebrate the season with one of the best-known choral works in Western music, Handel s Messiah as well as added seasonal selections performed by the Garden State Philharmonic and the GSP Chorus under the direction of Steven Russell.

From Randall Thompson s Frostiana to Aaron Copland s Appalachian Spring, the Garden State Philharmonic, featuring the GSP Chorus, will celebrate the works of American composers.
An evening of strings awaits you as the Garden State Philharmonic brings Vivaldi s Four Seasons to life. Each evoking a different season of the year, this series of four concerto s for strings and solo violin will capture the hearts of first time concert goers and veterans of the symphony as well. Other works featured on this concert include the Four Seasons of Buenos Aires (Piazzolla) and Serenade for Strings (Dvorak). A symphony fit for a true hero, Beethoven s Symphony No. 3, Eroica, revolutionized the very nature of music. This majestic work celebrates the true heroes of humanity and is considered one of the greatest symphonies of all time.
