Fine Arts It is the intent of the Clinton Community Schools Fine Arts Department to provide each of its participants with an arts curriculum that focuses on creative expression through National, State, and Local Arts Standards, as well as aspects of the Common Core, that incorporate intrinsic development, abstract thinking, teamwork, and self-discipline through a structured, supportive educational environment. The arts (dance, music, theater, and visual arts) are challenging subjects with rigorous content and achievement standards at the state and national levels. All students are challenged (not just those who are considered artistically talented) to perform works of art, create their own works, and respond to works of art and the ideas they create. Research studies point to strong relationships between learning in the arts and fundamental cognitive skills and capacities used to master other core subjects, including reading, writing, and mathematics.
