San Francisco, CA (November 2018) San Francisco Playhouse celebrates the magic of the holiday season with the hit Broadway musical Mary Poppins. Susi Damilano will direct the Playhouse production, with music direction by Katie Coleman and choreography by Kimberly Richards. The entitled children of the stern Mr. Banks have made short work of a string of nannies. But when the tattered sorceress Mary Poppins arrives on their doorstep, she must use a combination of magic and common sense to engage the children to drop their silver spoons and lead their distracted dad to kite-flying redemption. A new take on a classic tale, this musical will truly make you believe that anything can happen if you let it and want to sing Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious from the chimney tops!

The cast features El Beh as Mary Poppins and includes Bay Area favorites Dominic Dagdagan, Ryan Drummond*, Rod Voltaire Edora*, Rudy Guerrero*, Kathryn Han*, Abby Haug*, Grace Hutton, Billy Hutton, Ruth Keith, Sophia LaPaglia, Catrina Manahan, Katrina Lauren McGraw*, Anthony Rollins-Mullens*, David Rukin, Marie Shell*, Wiley Naman Strasser, and Gina Velez. It s a cherished memory of mine as a 5 year old huddled with my cousins, captivated in front of the television watching the Disney film of Mary Poppins, recalls director Susi Damilano. Mary Poppins was remarkable with her open invitation to believe that anything is possible while nurturing the power of imagination, inspiring both children and adults. I want to bring that experience to San Francisco audiences this holiday season." San Francisco Playhouse s production of Mary Poppins is made possible by Season Producer Andrew Teufel; Executive Producer Robert Hulteng and Producers Fred and Leslie Karren. ABOUT THE CREATORS P.L. Travers (Author of the Mary Poppins stories) was born in 1899 in Australia in a residence above the bank where her father was branch manager. She began to write while a member of a touring stage company. In 1924, able to support herself as a journalist, she left Australia for England. She wrote a number of other books in addition to the Mary Poppins stories. She was fascinated by myth and fairy tales and traveled widely, living for a time with the Navajo. She was made writer in residence at both Smith and Radcliffe colleges in Massachusetts and also received an honorary doctorate from Chatham College, Pittsburgh. She died in London in 1996. Richard M.
