INSTALLATION AL Fade 6 Pro panels are available in two formats: US and EU, to suit the differing single gang electrical box standards in those regions. See Dimensions on page 12. A compact 12VDC power adapter is supplied with each panel and this requires a fused mains (1 to 24VAC, 6W) supply. Note: The micro USB socket on the base is used to administer software updates to the panel and has no other function. MOUNTING TO OPEN THE PANEL 1 Remove the four small screws from the top and bottom edges of the panel. 2 Gently pull the main body of the panel away from the back plate. Note: It may be necessary to gently lever the back plate away from the main body with a small implement. If you do so, take great care not to damage any of the micro circuitry inside the main body. Insert the four screws removed earlier. 4 www.acclaimlighting.com

CONNECTIONS The panel has three connector blocks at its rear, with the following functions: OPTIONAL DMX IN GND GND D D D+ D+ GND GND V+ V+ POWER IN (12-24VDC) DMX OUT POWER IN Each panel requires a DC power input of between 12 and 24VDC. The panel consumes just 1.W itself. The power adapter supplied with each panel provides 12VDC with a maximum power output of 6W. There are two pairs of GND and V+ connections, only one pair need to be used. Note: You can use either V+ and either GND in combination. DMX OUT Provides a link to DMX-enabled lighting fixtures. Use the GND, D and D+ terminals to send control data to the fixtures. The power draw of the fixtures will be completely separate from the panel. DMX IN (optional) DMX addressing: By default, six channels are output on addresses 1 to 6. By changing the micro switch settings on the rear panel, you can select any start channel within the DMX address space (the six channels always operate in a contiguous block from the chosen start address). See Addressing on page 7. Allows you to connect an external DMX source which can be used during programming to mix colors/channels when creating scenes. The DMX IN port is ignored at all other times. www.acclaimlighting.com

POWER ADAPTER The supplied compact power adapter can accept mains inputs from 1 to 24VAC, /6Hz and provides 12VDC at a maximum of 6W. N L + Mains input (1 to 24VAC /6Hz) Output to panel (12VDC, ma, 6W maximum) The power adapter is a Class II, double insulated device and does not require a ground wire. 6 www.acclaimlighting.com

ADDRESSING The panel uses a set of micro switches on the ON rear of the unit to determine its DMX output addressing. By default the panel uses DMX channels 1 to 6 to communicate with the connected lighting fixtures, however, you can 1 2 3 4 6 7 8 9 1 change this as necessary. The channels used are always in a contiguous block of six. When you select an address, the panel places the start of that six channel block at the chosen address value. TO SET AN ADDRESS 1 If already connected, remove power from the panel. 2 On the rear of the panel, locate the 1-way micro switch block. 3 Move switch 1 into the ON position. This will change the mode from fixed addressing at DMX channels 1 to 6 and cause the panel to take note of the address you select using the other nine switches. 4 Use switches 1 to 9 to choose the required start address. Each switch from 1 to 9 is weighted with a different value: SW SW SW SW SW SW SW SW SW 1 2 3 4 6 7 8 9 1 2 4 8 16 32 64 128 26 Choose combinations of the switches to create an address starting anywhere from 1 to 7 (in order to ensure a full six channels between 7 and the final address of 12). The address is formed from the sum of the weighted values; when a switch is on, its value is included in the sum to create the address. For instance, to achieve a DMX start address of 16, your switch settings would be as follows: SW SW SW SW SW SW SW SW SW SW 1 2 3 4 6 7 8 9 1 1 2 4 8 16 32 64 128 26 ON OFF ON OFF OFF ON OFF ON OFF ON The sum of the enabled address values in the example above is: 1 + 4 + 32 + 128 = 16 Note: Numerous smartphone apps are available to assist with setting switch addresses. When power is restored, the six channels of the panel will begin at the chosen address. TO USE DEFAULT ADDRESSING 1 If already connected, remove power from the panel. 2 On the rear of the panel, locate the 1-way micro switch block. SWITCH # ADDRESS WEIGHT 3 Move switch 1 into the OFF position. When power is restored, this will cause the panel to ignore all of the other switch settings and use channels 1 to 6. www.acclaimlighting.com 7

CONFIGURATION You can use the miniature faders to create scenes (containing color mixes or color chases), then store them into any of the six scene preset buttons to provide quick access during operation. SWITCHING BETWEEN ON AND STANDBY Once power is applied, press and release any button to switch the panel on. To switch the panel off: Press and release the Off/Pro button. RECORDING SCENES As required, you can create and run scenes containing either color chases or static color mixes. Each scene can contain up to 1 steps. TO RECORD A SCENE 1 While the panel is on, press and hold the Off/Pro button for three seconds, until its indicator flashes red - this indicates that you are in programming mode. The blue indicators, of all scene presets which contain existing programming, will illuminate. Note: It is not possible to write a new scene directly over an existing one, you must first delete the existing scene: To delete an existing scene: While the red Off/Pro indicator is flashing, press and hold the required scene preset button for three seconds, until all indicators flash blue three times. The chosen scene preset indicator will extinguish. 2 While the red Off/Pro indicator is flashing, press the required (vacant) preset button. The blue indicator of the chosen button will begin to flash. 3 Use the channel faders to create the required color mix. If required, you can also use an external DMX source to mix the channels as required in programming mode, instead of using the faders on the panel (see Connections on page ). Note: When programming, you need to actively include all of the required colors. This means that if certain colors are already present as you enter programming mode, you need to clear them and build up your required scene. Mixes that were already showing will be ignored when you store your scene. To avoid confusion, it is best to clear out all existing colors/channels and begin with all outputs at zero. You do this by raising/lowering the faders which control those colors/channels until the output goes to zero. Once everything is zeroed, you can then build up your new mix. 4 Press and release the Off/Pro button to store the current color mix. All indicators will flash blue three times to confirm your action. Repeat steps 3 and 4 to record any further steps within your scene; up to 1 steps can be recorded for each scene. Note: If two consecutive steps contain exactly the same color mixes, they will be automatically merged into one scene during the saving process. 6 Once all steps have been recorded for the scene, press and hold the Off/Pro button for three seconds until only its indicator remains lit in blue - this shows that you have exited from programming mode. 8 www.acclaimlighting.com

APPLYING FADE TIMES TO SCENES The panel allows a wide range of fade times to be applied to scenes. TO APPLY A FADE TIME TO A SCENE 1 Ensure that the panel is on, but not in programming mode: Just one scene button should be lit and not be flashing. 2 Press and hold the required scene preset button. After three second its indicator will begin to flash. Keep holding the button down throughout this procedure. 3 Adjusting the master fader to the desired fade time (ranging from to 6s). You should see the chosen color chase react to the changing fade time, although slower times will obviously react very slowly. 4 Release the button. All indicators will flash three times. You will need to select another preset and then go back to the changed one to see the effect. RESTORING DEFAULT SETTINGS If required, you can return the panel to its standard settings, including the scenes stored within the six presets. TO RESTORE DEFAULT SETTINGS 1 Remove power from the panel. 2 Press and hold the SC1 button and restore power to the panel. 3 After three seconds, release the SC1 button. All indicators will flash three times to indicate a successful restoration of default settings. www.acclaimlighting.com 9
