Building Bridges With The Community Includes Adding New Features to digimax Since 1945, MTCO has always strived to lead the way with providing the best local communications a small community could support. Over the years we surpassed that benchmark of quality service and continued to give Metamora and the latest and greatest in communications. We introduced digimax, a cutting edge IPTV service, and offered it to our local residents. This service, along with our voice and internet services, extends our options to now include video entertainment. We didn t stop there either. In the next few months MTCO will be upgrading several digimax video services and features. The upgrade keeps our customers moving with technology. digimax now will offer the ability for you to view the Channel Guide, Record, and access your DVR library all from any computer or device that can access the Internet. Also in the works is an App for smartphones to access their DVR content and recordings. The upgrade has a list of new things offered including the ability to customize your Channel Guide. The text in the guide can be made larger, and you can increase the amount of channels you want displayed on the screen. The television guide data reaches out to 12 days and includes more detailed descriptions of your favorite shows. The upgrade will also give us the ability to service you even better than the superior service you get now with a virtual remote service feature. The DVR set top boxes can now record 2 shows while watching a 3rd one live. Another great and useful feature is that you can create your own personal folder to store the recordings you made on the DVR. Each member of the household can create their own folder, and of course there is a folder that stores all recordings. Now, with all of these new features along with the great service you get from MTCO, we need you to tell your friends and neighbors all about it. When you do, you can receive a $25 referral credit on your bill and so will the customer you referred. See our coupon below. Have a great Spring! On The Cover: A new 52 foot bridge built last year with volunteers from the area. The bridge is located in Black Partridge Park and maintained by the Metamora Park District. A press release about the bridge can be read on page 6 in this issue of Connected Magazine. Entertainment & Technology Live From Davenport, Iowa... It s EagleCam A pair of bald eagles joined the Alcoa Davenport community in Iowa in 2009. They built their 7-foot nest on their 400-acre facility in a tree near the Mississippi River. In the spring of 2010 they fledged a pair of eaglets and later that year Alcoa installed their first EagleCam. Employees and the community helped name the eagle pair Liberty and Justice, and in April 2011, an online poll named the single eaglet they fledged this year Freedom. WTVP May Highlights National Memorial Day Concert For over two decades, PBS s National Memorial Day Concert has led the nation in honoring the service and sacrifice of our men and women in uniform, their families at home and all the fallen who have given their lives for our country. This concert will be broadcast live on Sunday, May 27, 2012 from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. CST in HD on digimax channel 504 or on digital channel 47. The event will be hosted by Gary Sinise and Joe Mantegna. Performers include The National Symphony Orchestra, U.S. Army Herald Trumpets, U.S. Army Chorus, U.S. Navy Band Sea Chanters, U.S. Air Force Singing Sergeants and more. So far in 2012, more than 2.25 million visitors from across the globe have tuned in to witness an American icon, the bald eagle, developing live within this unique eco-system. In the fall and winter the eagles use the nest to eat and prepare the nest for the next season. Eagles nesting in Iowa typically lay eggs in late February or early March and the eggs hatch in late March or early April. The eaglets grow quickly and are ready to fly fledge in late May or early June. You can view the EagleCam by going to www.alcoa.com and clicking on the EagleCam banner. The concert is also shown live via American Forces Network to the nearly one million American service men and women and Department of Defense civilians stationed in 175 countries as well at 140 U.S. Navy ships at sea.
