New Mexicobased movie theater chain buys land near SW Loop 410 By Ryan Salchert Reporter, San Antonio Business Journal Press Announcement The 15.72 acres bought by Icon Cinema is along Old Pearsall Road, fronted by a few fast-food restaurants, including Sonic Drive-In and Bill Miller Bar-B-Q. Icon Cinema, a New Mexico-based movie theater chain, has bought 15.72 aces on the northeast corner of SW Loop 410 and Old Pearsall Road, according to county deed records. The company bought the land on Sept. 25 from Pearsall Road LLC, an entity addressed to a San Francisco-based investor. Icon Cinema is a family-owned movie theater chain run by husband-and-wife duo Julie and Sam Snell. The small theater chain operates three locations: one in Albuquerque, New Mexico; one in Colorado Springs, Colorado; and one in San Angelo. The chain shows first-run movies, according its website. The Business Journal was not able to reach Icon Cinema for comment before press time. A look at the area around Icon Cinema's new property reveals its potential for a new movie theater. The closest public movie theaters to the site are Regal Cinemas Cielo Vista 18 near Ingram Park Mall and Santikos Mayan Palace near South Park Mall. Real Estate, Inc.
