ACCOMPANIST Orchestra Victoria provides an official accompanist who will be available to all applicants on the day of the audition. Contact details for this accompanist will be made available in the coming weeks. You may prefer to use your own accompanist, who must be available for the duration of the audition. If you are planning to use the official accompanist, direct contact should be made to arrange a rehearsal time. Any rehearsals are by mutual arrangement and at the cost of the Applicant. 3. RECORDED APPLICATIONS Applicants may submit a recorded audition; recordings must be Audio and Video. If you are intending to send recorded auditions that you will need to send these through the file electronically using wetransfer.com, dropbox, evernote, or yousendit, and a hard copy on CD is sent via express post as a backup. I would also suggest the file be sent in multiple formats in case there is an issue with one. Mp4,.wav.ISO are all acceptable. Recordings must be done as one take, and the microphone and camera must remain in the initial position throughout the recording. You will also need to have the form Recorded Audition Statutory Declaration, stating that the recording has not been edited in any way, either by re-recording or by deleting false starts. The declaration should be signed by yourself and the recording technician/witness, and will need to reach the Orchestra s Administration Office (PO Box 836 South Melbourne, Victoria 3205, Australia), along with the CD or electronic copy no later than 5.00pm on Tuesday 26th January 2016. CDs must be track listed. 4. GENERAL MATTERS Your First Round audition time for persons attending auditions will be advised by email on Tuesday 26th January 2016. 2. Associate Principal Players In addition to the duties of Tutti Players, the Associate Principal Players will: i. play principal and secondary parts as required; ii. if approved by the Concertmaster and/or Music Director assume the performing duties of Section Principal if that Section Principal is absent for more than one week; iii. assist the Section Principal in managing the section and preparing parts; iv. share the musical responsibilities of the section and lead the section when required due to rostering or unforeseen circumstances; v. in the case of the strings, sit on the front desk or in another position as required; vi. cover the Section Principal for all programs except those that have been agreed in advance. Associate Principals will play section parts and additional instruments in accordance with the following: Flute: Oboe: Clarinet: Bassoon: French Horn: Trumpet: Trombone: Timpani: Percussion: Alto Flute. Tutti Flute and/or Piccolo if indicated in the Flute part. Oboe d Amore. Tutti Oboe and/or Cor Anglais if indicated in the Oboe part. Tutti Clarinet and/or Eb clarinet and/or Bassett Horn. Tutti Bassoon. Wagner Tuba. Any Trumpet part. Play Bb, C, D, Piccolo Trumpets and Cornet. Any Trombone part other than Bass Trombone and play Alto Trombone if indicated in the score and deemed reasonable by the Player. Percussion parts in consultation with the Percussion Section Principal. Specialist instruments or parts when requested by the Section Principal.
