A sublime day plus a beautiful ceremony Historic and so refreshing but with great reverence and seeing so many happy smiles from the Royals and around the world! The Queen could be proud down to her grays' strutting their stuff so regimentally! Our speaker for May, although late giving your committee some anxious moments, Cherise gave us such an interesting talk on Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens and what goes on behind the scenes in keeping meticulous details on a data base of all plants discovered! Sally Brownie Editor/Compiler Enjoy the read. FOR STARTERS... A blind boy sat on the steps of a building with a hat at his feet. He had a sign which read, I am blind please help. There were only a few coins in his hat. A man walked by, took a few coins from his pocket and dropped them into the hat. He then took the sign, turned it around and wrote something on it. He put it back and walked off. Soon the boy realised that the hat began to fill with coins. That afternoon the man who changed the sign came to see how things were. The boy remembered his footsteps and asked, Were you the one who changed my sign this morning? What did you write? The man said, I only wrote the truth. I said what you said but only in a different way I wrote Today is a beautiful day, but I cannot see it The first sign simply said that the boy was blind, however, the second sign told people that they were lucky to be able to see. Should we be surprised that the second sign was more effective? So, be thankful for what you have, be creative, be innovative, think differently and think positively.
OF INTEREST Trees over the next month or two starting with a poem: (Author unknown) I THINK that I shall never see A poem lovely as a tree. A tree whose hungry mouth is prest Against the sweet earth's flowing breast; A tree that looks at God all day, And lifts her leafy arms to pray; A tree that may in summer wear A nest of robins in her hair; Upon whose bosom snow has lain; Who intimately lives with rain. Poems are made by fools like me, But only God can make a tree. The Tule Tree, listed as one of the ten greatest trees in the world. CLUB NEWS CHAIRMANS PLEA!!! Ndumo in Northern KZN is 400 klm from Durban.Proclaimed a reserve in 1924, it is run by Ezemvelo KZN Wildlife. There being no perimeter fence, guests are advised to be on guard for wild visitors! Due to the lack of luxuries i.e. cell phones, no big 5 s, therefore not on the foreign tourist track! Bongani our guide was extremely knowledgeable with a great sense of humour. On our many outings we experienced the spectacular lake Nyamithi fringed by forests of Fever trees and a variety of other species. The park has a fair mammal population, the Hippo being the largest! A Warthog without his antenna tail, could not detect us on the track only a few metres
away! Other mammals expertly tracked, were Giraffe, Porcupine, Monkeys, Wildebeest, Nyalas and Impalas. COMPUTER ALERT!
