Acknowledgments This book was a long time in the making, and many people assisted in the process. I received several grants from the College of Humanities and Social Sciences at Kennesaw State University that supported travel and research associated with the project as well as dedicated summer writing time. I also received a Holder Professional Development Award from the Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning, which enabled me to attend the July 2012 Presbyterian Church (USA) General Assembly. Many individuals on all sides of the BDS debate shared their time and experiences with me and my team of research assistants through both formal interviews and informal conversations; this book would not exist without their willingness to participate. I received valuable feedback from a number of anonymous reviewers of the book proposal and chapters that were submitted to conferences and journals; conversations with Mira Sucharov, Mohammed Abu-Nimer, Patrick Thaddeus Jackson, Mark Braverman, and Julie M. Norman all provided stimulus for the project at various stages. I was blessed to have an amazing array of research assistants over the course of the project: Jamil Al Wekhian, Samy Gerges, Laura Johnston, Jennifer Porter, Patrick Shaver, Katie Sizemore, and Amanda Woomer provided not only research support but also original ideas and insights into the project. All these individuals helped strengthen the book; any errors or inadequacies are my doing. Finally, this book would not have been written without the support of Jessica Chafin and Danielle Wiley or my husband Stoph, who kept my sweet kids from destroying my office while I finalized the manuscript.
