With the impending end to staple Parks and Recreation NBC s Comedy Block is in need of a fresh show to bolster it s youth audience and reinforce their propensity to promote creative original shows. Enter Fairview, a new twist on the group of friends living in the city sitcom, where the young people aren t in the city at all and aren t really friends (yet). They re old high school pals living in their old stomping grounds in middle-of-nowhere Fairview, California; some by choice, others not so much.

THE BASICS Title: Fairview Tagline: Welcome Home, Kids. Genre: Single Camera Situational Comedy, Ensemble Cast Technology: Single Camera Situational Comedy, Ensemble Cast Target group: 18-35 men and women Pilot Episode Synopsis: Fairview opens with mid-twenty yearold s Sam (Jenny Slate) and Aubrey (Jessica Williams) as move back to their hometown and re-connect out of shared misery. Sam is broke and jobless after going to grad school for English while Aubrey is less broke but just dropped out of law school and is going through some stuff. They also meet their old friend Varun (Danny Pudi) at a 7-11 that Sam momentarily thinks he now owns (he does not, he does environmental economic consulting). The pilot episode also introduces Dave, who Sam dated in high school, and Ray - Dave s roommate and together the group finds ways to pass time in their suburban town.

PROMOTIONAL STRATEGY OVERVIEW Strategy will rely on star power of the ensemble cast, with many appearances and leverage of NBC to promote the film on late night tv and niche comedy podacsts. In addition, standard television ads and online campaigns (with a focus on targeting streaming channels like Hulu and Amazon) will be implemented. The second tier is promotion to industry outlets who will undoubtedly create buzz about a crew and cast with so many television and comedy alums. MONTH BY MONTH June/July Podcast Appearances: Book Slate and other cast members on podcasts with audiences surpassing the millions, such as Comedy Bang Band and The Nerdist. Print Promos in magazines, online, etc. Buzz pieces on Vulture, Mashable, other youth-target sites discussing multi-ethnic and female driven cast. Active PR work to boost number of opinion and talk pieces. August: Teaser Trailer TV Ads, Hulu ads, Facebook Ads Web: Official NBC website launch Magazine: Features in Entertainment Weekly, Vulture, The Hollywood Reporter Late Night Shows: Appearances by secondary cast on major shows (Fallon, Colbert, etc.) September Premiere of Series Continued booking on Late Night shows in weeks after release, by Slate and any breakout stars of show

DISTRIBUTION Thursdays 8pm on NBC Scheduled for Thursday night 8pm to start, this show will kick off About a Boy and Growing Up Fisher, two other coming-of-age comedies on NBC, rounding out the standard comedy block for NBC. This time slot is promising and will generate ad revenue in the young 18-35 demo that the show targets, as well as millions of potential viewers. Streaming Following suit of many NBC shows, the episodes will be allowed for steaming on NBC s site, Hulu, Comcast on Demand, and itunes 24 hours after the original air date. *This distribution plan reflects only the first season of Fairview. Potentials for syndication, international distribution, and DVD sales are not included, and presuppose the show being picked up for minumum one full season.

SUMMARY An order for a minimum of 11 episodes (half a regular season) has been greenlit by NBC-Universal A budget is enclosed and predicts the production costs for the pilot episode. This includes set construction, which will be minimized with the use of old sets on the NBC lot in LA. The budget reflects the costs for an initial writing team of 9 writers, plus head writer. The show will be broadcast, in compliment to FCC regulations, in widescreen HD.
