2018-2019 Andover Central Choir Syllabus IN CHOIR WE CARE. *These are the standards of the ACHS Choir Department that students must abide by. C Community (As a community we will be there to support one another like a family. We pitch in, we work hard, we encourage those around us, support our classmates in and out of the choir classroom, we have fun, while staying positive together.) A Accountable/Attitude/Actions (We will hold each other accountable, because we are a community that depends on each other to show up & be at rehearsal. We also will hold you accountable for your attitude & actions which should always strive to bring us closer together as a choir community and family.) R Reliable/Respect/Responsible (In this class you will be reliable in that you will show up to have fun, but put the work in! You will be respectful to your classmates and respectful of what we are trying to do in class each day, which is create art You will be responsible for having your music learned and communicating when you feel you need help.) E Equality/Expectations (Know that you are on an equal playing field & are expected to meet expectations. We are equals in creating music and we all have a gift to share together!) Classroom Expectations 1. You will be in your assigned seat with your music and pencil WHEN the bell rings. If you are not, you will be counted tardy, regardless of if you are in the room. 2. As soon as the bell rings, you will be ready to stand up and warm up. 3. You will have respect for your director and will not talk when they are giving direction or working with a specific section. 4. Phones are not allowed in class. They must be stowed in a bag, not your pocket by the end of the bell ringing. If you choose to have your phone out during the hour it will be confiscated and turned into the office where you may pick it up at the end of the school day. 5. Care about the music you are creating and the people singing around you. 6. You are here to SING and master the skills of what it means to be a choir singer, this will be expected of you in your attitude and actions. 7. Students are responsible for keeping their choir uniform in tip-top fashion. Any damages to the uniform will result in repair charges to that student (please consult handbook on website for more information.) 8. Students are personally responsible for any and all alterations to their uniform (Do NOT cut off material). The alterations lengths will be specified in class and posted to google classroom. 9. Communication is a MUST when it comes to performances. Unexpected illness and family emergencies may be excused with the attendance of a USD385 concert and a report written on that performance. The rubric for that report will only be given once communication has been made. Other conflicts with concerts/performances are unexcused. 10. Students will be expected to be a member of google classroom and check it daily.
