2 Welcome Welcome to the 2009 NIAS Press catalogue, with our new and recent titles plus full stocklist of titles published since the Press was established in 2002. As usual we offer books on a wide variety of countries and disciplines, and trust that something in this catalogue is of interest. Enjoy your reading! Gerald Jackson Editor in Chief About NIAS Press NIAS Press specializes in publishing innovative research in modern Asia. Our main focus is on Southeast Asia and the social sciences (but this is not exclusive). Based in Copenhagen, we are a globally focused publisher with books available in all parts of the world. The Press is a scholarly publisher with the rigorous academic standards expected of a university press. Our books are reviewed in major Asian Studies journals and are becoming well known and appreciated in the wider scholarly community. We aim to publish 15 20 titles a year.
