In Our Community Marseilles Holiday Tournament On Friday December 26, 2014 through Tuesday December 30, the Marseilles Elementary School will be hosting its 6th Annual Marseilles Holiday Tournament. There will be 16 teams in this year s tournament. The business community has embraced the tournament by helping with corporate sponsorships and many fans stop in the businesses during their trips to Marseilles. We invite members of the community and sports fans to stop by the Marseilles Elementary School Gym and watch some exciting high school basketball during the holidays. The price of admission is $4.00 for an adult and $3.00 for students and senior citizens. The admission price is good for the entire day. Santa Hotline Attention all children! Holiday Lights Contest Do you have the best lit house on the block? How about a festive themed business? The Illinois River Area Chamber of Commerce is hosting its annual Holiday Lights Contest on Sunday, December 7, 2014. Sign up by calling the caboose at 815-795-2323 by December 5th. Winners will be announced on December 10th. The first place prize is $75, 2nd place is $50, and 3rd place is $25. A Chamber gift certificate will be awarded to the Best Business category. Holiday Magic The 4th Annual Holiday Magic in Marseilles will be held on Saturday, December 6, 2014 from 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. The parade lines up at the Marseilles School parking lot at 10:15 a.m. and starts at 10:30 a.m. The route for the parade starts on Broadway to Aurora, crossing the railroad tracks and west on Washington to Main Street, then ends at Labor Local #393 on Main Street. Santa and Mrs. Claus will be at the Labor Hall from 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. The Marseilles Tourism and Park Committee is hosting make and take crafts and cookie decorating from 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. Additional games and activities will take place from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m Food and beverages will be available while visiting with Santa and Mrs. Claus, along with last minute shopping at craft vendor booths. Come out and share in the Christmas spirit!
