St. Junipero Serra Catholic School Presents Auditions for AUDITION PROCEDURES ACTORS PACKET READ and COMPLETE the attached audition application. REVIEW an audition script and practice your lines. Memorization is not mandatory. Work on voice, dramatic presentation, and show your personality!!! Prepare to sing any song of your choice (with or without music). Bring your completed application to the front office by Friday, February 3 rd, 2017. You will receive an e-mail with an approximate audition time. February 8 th or 9 th please check in at the audition location (TBA) -Parents need to stay with students until their audition is complete. -Parents are not invited to watch the auditions. -Applicants may leave as soon as they have auditioned. Performances are Thursday March 30 th @ 6:30pm, Friday March 31 st @ 6:30pm, and Saturday April 1 st @ 2:00pm in the Student Activity Center. There are MANTATORY rehearsals the week of March 27-31 in the afternoon/evening. All Performances are MANDATORY! ***Mandatory = students may NOT miss any of these rehearsals or performances*** o The Cast List will be emailed on Friday February 10 th. Students will need to email Mrs. Sifers with their decision to accept or decline their role by February 12 th by 8pm. o There will be many students who audition and want a lead role. Please understand that ALL roles are crucial to the success of the performances. Think about accepting or declining your role carefully. Feelings are not meant to be hurt in the decisions that are made. AUDITION DATES & TIMES Auditions Grades 1-4 ~ Wednesday, February 8 th : 2:40pm 5:30pm (location TBA) Auditions Grades 5-8 ~ Thursday, February 9 th : 2:40pm 5:30pm (location TBA) **Parents need to be present for student Auditions; parents will wait outside during audition** **Aladdin Jr. cast fees are $200 for all roles. This fee is due by February 17 th. This fee covers costumes, sets/props, music, lighting, sound, licensing, cast t-shirt, DVD, snacks, the cast party, and much more. Questions??? This fee helps pay for: Costumes, advertisements, stage equipment, licensing, and more All acting roles have a fee of $200 and are due by February 17 th. Fee for Crew members is $85 and is due to the front office by March 10 th. (please see crew application) I understand that there is a participation fee associated with SJSC s production of Aladdin Jr. If my child is selected to participate, I will need to meet my participation agreement obligation before a supplies or music can be issued. Aladdin Jr. CAST & CREW ELIGIBILITY CONTRACT As educators, we have a responsibility to see that academics are the number one priority for students participating in the Spring Musical. Students participating in Aladdin Jr. will assume the responsibility of obtaining and completing all academic assignments. The following policies are established to help and ensure that the cast and crew members involved in Aladdin Jr. program meet SJSC s high academic standards. 1. All students participating in SJSC s Spring Musical Aladdin Jr. are to maintain the following: (students with an ILP must maintain the academic work agreement that is made with the teacher): -Students must earn a 2 or higher according to the following scale. Students who earn a 1 in Responsible Behavior/Academic Processing will be asked to leave the musical. Responsible Behavior/Academic Processing Scale: 4 No detentions 3 Earned 1 or 2 detentions 2 Earned 3 or 4 detentions 1 Earned 5 or more detentions 2. The administration reserves the right to remove a cast or crew member from the musical either temporarily or permanently if, in the opinion of the administration, the student demonstrates poor behavior or citizenship during the school day or at musical rehearsal or if the student does not meet the academic and conduct requirements as stated above. 3. A student will not be dismissed from an after-school detention in order to make musical rehearsal. 4. For a cast or crew member to be eligible to participate in that day s rehearsal and/or performance they must have attended class for ½ a day (students must arrive to school by 11:00am). 5. Students will be allowed two unexcused absences during the rehearsal schedule. Students who miss more than the allotted two rehearsals will face the following disciplinary action(s) at SJSC s discretion. Such action may include, but are not limited to the following: a) Meeting with Mrs. Sifers b) Have lines/scenes removed c) Dismissal from the musical 6. An Audition Application, Eligibility Contract, and payment must be submitted to the Musical Director before a student can attend musical rehearsals and performance. Student Signature Parent Signature
