Founded in 1960 as a non-profit community theatre, Thibodaux Playhouse is dedicated to the planning, promotion, and production of plays for the citizens of Thibodaux and surrounding areas. Over its 55 year history, Thibodaux Playhouse has produced over 200 plays and performed at various local venues including Nicholls State University and Jean Lafitte National Historical Park & Preserve Wetlands Acadian Cultural Center Theatre. On July 11, 2013, Mayor Tommy Eschete proclaimed Thibodaux Playhouse, Inc. Thibodaux's official community theatre. Run by an elected Board of Directors and supported through the dedication of its volunteers, Thibodaux Playhouse currently produces three straight plays and one musical per season. The Playhouse additionally hosts three children s musical workshop productions through its outreach program, TPI, Jr. The program encourages area youth to embrace the performing arts while providing an educational environment that fosters creativity in children aged 7-15. Now in its 56 th year, Thibodaux Playhouse continues to work with community members to ensure that the art of theatre will remain an active and vibrant part of the Thibodaux area.

They go undercover as a nun and priest, but their presence, combined with the addition of a new nun, spurs paranoia throughout the convent that spies have been sent from Rome to shut them down. The hapless hosts of the show struggle to keep their cast in line as their show goes on the air live, all the time facing the specter of the grimmest fate of all: cancellation! Blake M. An infamous tale, Sweeney Todd, an unjustly exiled barber, returns to 19th century London seeking vengeance against the lecherous judge who framed him and ravaged his young wife. The road to revenge leads Todd to Mrs. Lovett, a resourceful proprietress of a failing pie shop, above which he opens a new barber practice. The Thibodaux Playhouse Children's Theatre Workshop began in 1982. It was restructured in 2013 with the addition of a spring production. Renamed in 2014, Thibodaux Playhouse, Jr. encourages area youth to embrace the performing arts while providing an educational environment that fosters creativity in children aged 7-15. Each child participates in the entire process of staging a theatrical production including: auditions, rehearsals to learn the techniques of acting, singing and choreography, and 3-6 performances. Low-income youth, as well as, youth with learning challenges and/or physical handicaps are fully accommodated. Productions and rehearsals involve adult volunteers with committees dedicated to sets, props, costumes, make-up, ticket sales, program production, and cast party. TPI, Jr. will expand its slate in 2015-16 to include a much anticipated TPI, Jr. All Stars production scheduled for September.
