Adult Intermediate & Advanced Classes When you d like to take your musical skills to new levels, we have something for you! Fantasias and Canzonas A class for recorders and strings (violin, viola, cello, viol) that explores the development of 17th century English polyphony. The music of Morely, Simpson, Lawes, Jenkins, and Purcell will be studied. While the music is not technically difficult, sight reading ability and working knowledge of C, G, F, D, and B-flat scales is required. The music of Telemann and Corelli will be the vehicle for exploring the particular challenges (and rewards!) of combining winds and strings. Modern pitch will be used (A=440). For string players, a Baroque bow is an asset but not required. Participants must be performers, but no one is required to perform at every recital. New members may observe once or twice before performing. After that, members perform only when they feel ready. In the interest of those who are not yet completely comfortable performing, friends, spouses and teachers are not invited to the performances. The group meets one Sunday per month, September through May (except December).
