Summer Reading Assignment Incoming Third Grade Students Part One Create a Comic Book Strip Materials: The book you choose to read One piece of large, white, construction paper or poster board (18 x 12 ) Pencil, colored pencils, and crayons no markers Steps: 1. Fold your construction paper or poster board to create six boxes 2. Identify the problem in the story 3. Recreate the problem in the top three boxes. Use color and add a caption below that describes what is going on in your illustrations. 4. Identify the solution in the story. 5. Recreate the solution in the bottom three boxes. Use color and add a caption below that describes what is going on in your illustrations. 6. On the back of your comic strip, write one paragraph (4-6 sentences) describing how the characters in the story solved or could solve their problem(s) using Catholic Social Teaching. > Ask yourself, how do the characters solve their problems in a peaceful way? > Use the attached paper to help you answer this question. 7. Add a title to the top of your comic strip. Please make sure your name is also on the front.
