Destination Canada
What is Corroboree? Canada Corroboree is a major roadshow held in Australia targeting travel agents, tour operators, wholesalers & media. It is an opportunity to present to approximately 800 retail travel agents highlighting the amazing experiences Canadian destinations and product have on offer. There is the opportunity to meet with many Australian media at dedicated media events in Sydney and Melbourne with attendees always keen to hear the latest story angles or travel news. The B2B (supplier/dmo to wholesaler) event in Sydney is held to maximise the exposure of Canadian sellers to the Australian market and to expand the Canada content in the Australian partner catalogues. The retail travel agent events are held in the evening from 5.30pm to 9.00pm. There are 2 levels of participation for Canadian suppliers as a stage presenter or as a tabletop participant. Maximum time is given for one on one talk time with the agents, along with the stage presentations. Before and after the formal presentations travel agents have the opportunity to move around the room collecting brochures and meeting with exhibitors. Media Events: The media events are held in Sydney and Melbourne with key media invited to attend. Canadian participants have a 2 minute presentation time and should highlight their destination with new and interesting product focus using video, graphics or something completely out of the box! B2B Event: The day long B2B event is held in Sydney and is an opportunity for one-on-one 14 minute set appointments with wholesalers & tour operators to discuss new product and marketing activities for the year. Dates & Locations for Corroboree 2016 Canada Corroboree 2016 will be held in the below mentioned 4 cities next year. Theme 2016 CANADA - Where Dreams Come True The Structure - Built around the tag line of CANADA Where Dreams Come True, the Host will take the audience on a journey of dreams, bedtime stories, fables and wishes that can make all come true when visiting or travelling to Canada. The Host Donald Mackee will play the role of The Dream Maker (A flashy modern day Sandman ). The Dream Maker will be a cross between the Sandman and a TV show host. At certain points throughout the presentation he will speak in rhymes or riddles to set up a destination or re-enforce points such as: Put your head on your pillow as sleep takes you away Dream of a place that you d wish to visit one day A land of wonders, sights and a thousand things to do Canada is where your dreams can come true. The Presenters Role - The Canadian representatives will show the audience how to make their dreams come true. They could play characters out of fables, stories or myths; whatever links well to their location and messages; perhaps even traditional Canadian native stories. The Audience s Role Each member of the audience would be referred to as a Dreamer. They will all be supplied with a Dream Wish List (questions) that they have to find the answers to so they can make the dreams come true by the end of the presentation. Three Dreamers with correct answers will be granted their wish and win a dream come true trip to Canada. 3
The Story The room goes to dark and then we hear the go to sleep lullaby start to play. The Dream Maker in a soothing voice does a Voice over while a collage of Canadian hero shots come up on the screen all boarded by fluffy clouds. The Dream Maker talks of dreams or magical places of maple syrup, lolly pops and tasty beaver tails he finishes by saying: and who can make these dreams come true? (The music stops abruptly.) Why the maker of dreams the Sandman s main man The Dream Maker!!!!! Flashing lights come up on stage as either an upbeat modern version of Mr Sandman or Come fly with me plays. The Dream Maker enters onto stage singing a re written version of the lyrics reinforcing the theme and Canada. After this opening The Dream Maker warms the audience up by explaining who he is and why he s there. He then goes into the audience and asks several Dreamers what their biggest all time wish is. Whatever responses he gets from the audience The Dream Maker will twist it around to either only be possible in Canada or in someway relate to Canada. He would then take the audience on a journey through the presentation by speaking to all the Canadian Reps to find out how they make peoples dreams come true when visiting Canada. The story culminates in the audience finding all the answers to their wish list showing that Canada is the place where their dreams can come true. To prove this The Dream Maker grants three of them their wishes (the winners from the major prize draw) and makes their dreams come true by sending them to Canada. The Set Songs containing the word dream would play as the audience take their seats. A looping Canada Where Dreams Come True animation fills the video screen. The looping animation, built over a cloud background, profiles all the presenter s logos by having them floating across the screen in bubbles. On either side of the stage would be banners (push up) with all the logos displayed in individual clouds. Event Format The travel agent events are held in the evening from 5.30pm to 9.00pm in order to maximise agent attendance. All participating companies will have half a tabletop booth at the venue. As travel agents arrive they will have the opportunity to move around the room collecting brochures and meeting with exhibitors for the first hour of the night and then again after the formal presentations end, up until the event closes at 9.00pm. The formal presentation part of the evening starts at 6.30pm and will run for approximately one and a half to two hours. Audience participation plays a fun and inclusive part to Corroboree and this will remain part of the event. We will be developing some game segments providing plenty of audience interaction. One major prize including flights and accommodation will be given out each evening (x4 cities) along with two land and discounted air prizes (x4 cities). Additional smaller prizes will be given out during the game breaks to keep the evening flowing. Participants will be provided with 4 themed T-shirts to be worn during the Corroboree events the fee for these is included in the registration. 4
