How do I troubleshoot my analog inputs/connections if I don t get proper readings from sensors? 16. How long is the cable? Q1. My gauge just cycles on and off, what s wrong? A1. 99% of the time it s due to using the wrong gauge version on your vehicle. If the gauge does not get a legitimate response from the car it thinks it s off and the
gauge will shut down. It will see bus traffic and turn on again and the cycle will continue. You need to contact the point of purchase and exchange for correct gauge. If this is not the cause then it may be a defective cable but this is rare. Q2. Before I purchase, how do I know what parameters will be supported on my particular vehicle? A2. You can view the latest user manuals on our website or the document called Parameters and Features also found on our website on the Interceptor specific page. There is no definitive list for individual models, as this would require thousands of individual documents. The lists of parameters include descriptions which should give you a good indication as to what will and won t be supported by your vehicle. For example, if your car has a manual transmission, the transmission parameters will not apply to you, or if your car does not have an oil pressure sensor you will not see oil pressure. Q3. I would like to purchase a second gauge to go along with a previously purchased one, how do I order this? A3. Simply purchase a single gauge (same version as your first) but state in the note or message field that this is to be a second gauge. It is also a good idea to write orders@aeroforcetech.com to confirm that this request is noticed. You will then receive a properly programmed gauge and appropriate dual cable. Q4. I would like to update an older gauge, what are my options and costs? A4. In order for your gauge to be reflashed to the latest firmware, you must have firmware version 2.2 or higher for the PT, FD, or SR version. 3.3 for the CN, CNC, CNF, CNi versions. 4.0 for Audi/VW, and 5.0 for the ISOi versions. The sticker on the back of the gauge will indicate the version number. For example, PT401v2.7 is version 2.7. They are all in this format except the very old gauges which may say PT401f16 or something odd like that. The back connections of the gauge will look like this, and must have the same main connector and shrouded 3 pin connector and have the 2 pin jumper (red) shown. If it s missing the shroud or jumper/pins it :
The reflash will cost $25 plus return shipping of $7. If your gauge is older than this, we cannot reflash it, the current code requires more memory than the older CPU can hold. If your gauge is out of warranty, and it looks like the picture above, we can repair it. We may have to rebuild it using newer external hardware though if you have the older crimp on style bezel and flat vinyl face. We do not have these older parts any longer. If your gauge is older than this, which means it is at least 3 years old, the only option for a repair or upgrade is our exchange plan. Send us your old gauge and cable and we'll send you a brand new gauge for $169 plus $11 return shipping. The price to reflash a dual set is the same, $25. The exchange price for a dual set is double the single. Please contact service@aeroforcetech.com for a return form for either reflash/repair/exchange. Q5. How long does it take to get my gauge after ordering? A5. Gauges usually ship 3-5 business days after receiving order. All gauges are assembled on a per order basis due to the hundreds of different configurations. They are basically custom made. Q6. Can I install the newer style faces on older style hardware? A6. No, the newer gauge faces are very different than the old and will not fit. Besides, the older hardware has a crimped on bezel which cannot be removed unless cut off as opposed to the new with the screw on bezel.
Q7. Can I use the gauge at the same time as other scan devices or equipment plugged into the OBD2 port? A7. Probably not as the OBD2 port is designed for only one device. You can try this, it won t hurt anything, and it is possible that some devices are compatible depending on how they are accessing data. Most devices are not compatible however and one or both may hang up and not display data. Q8. How do I know which version gauge to use with my vehicle? A8. Go to the order page on our website, choose you vehicle manufacture, and you ll be taken to the appropriate order page. On the left side of this page you will see a link to our application guide were you can look up your vehicle and the correct version for it. Q9. When I park my car in the sun during a hot day, my gauge has a washed out appearance for several minutes after it powers up. Why is this? A9. If the gauge gets very hot, the LCD display, like all LCD displays, will loose contrast. This is more likely to happen if the gauge is mounted on the dash. Once the gauge cools, it will return to normal. To prevent or lessen this situation, a windshield shade can be used to keep direct sunlight off of the gauge and keep the vehicle interior cooler. Q10. How do I get or change the custom graphics that are displayed when the gauges turn on? A10. Go to the Logos menu option near end of list and you will see these and can choose what you like. 11. If I order a dual set, will it come with everything I need including a dual cable? A11. Yes, everything you need will be included in the package including the dual cable. Q12. Why is there no phone number to contact Aeroforce? A12. We are able to keep out products very affordable by eliminating the costs to man phones. The user manuals are available online and are very complete and comprehensive. Our email is answered daily and we make every effort to answer all questions within 24 hours, and usually much quicker than that. We will make sure any issue is taken care of. Q13. What is the return policy?
A13. If a return is required, an RMA and/or authorization must be given within 30 days and a return form must accompany the product which can be found on the Manuals page on the website at bottom, or ask for one by emailing service@aeroforcetech.com. Items will be returned if this is not done. If an exchange is needed and the mistake was ours, there will be no charge for this. If an incorrect gauge was ordered there will be a 15% restocking fee to cover the cost to test and repackage the gauge. Be sure to check the application guide as recommended on our order page to ensure that the incorrect gauge is not ordered. Q14. Can the warning lights be used to monitor something not being displayed? A14. Yes. The warning (annunciator) lights are completely independent of what is being displayed on the display. For example you can being viewing intake air temperature and knock retard while monitoring RPM with the warning lights. Q15. How do I troubleshoot my analog inputs/connections if I don t get proper readings from sensors? A15. 1. Check for 5v (12v for 3.5 bar MAP, wideband controller) between red and black wire at sensor (for wideband 12v should be on both the red and white wire going to controller). If not there check ground, then check output of 5v regulator or whatever your 5v (12v) source is. 2. With key on, engine off, check voltage on output white wire (yellow for wideband) at sensor. Should be a value that corresponds with the current conditions. For example around 2.3V for 2 bar MAP sensor, which would be representative of 0 psi. Wideband will be close to 5v if car has not been started in a while since fuel fumes will be gone and sensor will detect free air. 3. Make sure this voltage is also at the input to the gauge. 4. Set slope and intercept of both inputs to 1 and 0 respectively. Look for this voltage to ensure you are connected to correct analog input. 5. Once verified enter the correct slope and intercept values for that input per the instructions that came with your sensor. 6. You should now see correct readings when accessing the input. 7. Don't get analog input confused with OBD2 boost reading. They are not labeled the same but may be similar. Q16. How long is the cable? A16. The cable is 5 long. A 9 cable is available on our accessories page if needed. Most overhead gauge pods will need this length. If you place an order for a gauge and also order the 9 cable, we will credit your account such that you will only pay $8 for the additional length cable which normally costs $25. If after receiving the gauge and realize you would like the 9 cable, you can order the 9 and then return the original 5 and we will refund $17 of the price for the 9.
