DEAN S MESSAGE 院長的話 CHECK OUT WHAT S ON IN THE SCHOOL OF MUSIC 音樂學院最新節目資訊 on the cover: Bevis Ng Chin-pok, marimba & Academy Symphony Orchestra / photo: Kelvin Lam Ka-ki The School of Music at The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts offers two Diploma programmes as well as a four-year Bachelor of Music degree and a two-year Master of Music degree courses. Our students are highly-trained first and foremost as performers, and they also engage in a wide range of contextual studies, research in performance, as well as interdisciplinary collaborations with other Schools within the Academy. The events presented in this brochure demonstrate the myriad of activities our students participate in. They are all strongly embedded in our curricula, exposing students to top international performers as well as leading local musicians. Highlights this semester include our annual opera production. This year, we will be presenting Mozart s The Magic Flute (please see page 6 for details). In addition, our line-up for visiting artists is particularly diverse and exciting in the coming few months (please consult page 16 for the listing). So please do join us in celebrating this semester s many performances, masterclasses and talks. You can enjoy most of these public event free of charge. They are excellent showcases of the quality of our students work as well as our high-level teaching. These is something new and rewarding to experience almost every day!
