A Musical Adventure Have you ever listened to a piece of music and felt like you were suddenly in a different place? The s 2017-18 MIS/YPC programs explore how music can transport you to another location, another time or another state of mind. It can send you to the other side of the world or bring you right back home. Sometimes it can even sound like a mode of transportation planes, trains and automobiles! But how does music capture these snapshots of somewhere so different from here? How do composers and musicians harness musical sound to communicate a sense of place? Join the on a musical expedition as we travel together across the country, globe and maybe even the galaxy to discover the answers to these musical secrets. Grades 3-8: Young People s Concerts (YPC) Young People s Concerts use the full orchestra (84 musicians) and all of its many instruments to explore Music Transports You A Musical Adventure. In these performances at the Tucson Music Hall, the conductor and musicians of the orchestra will demonstrate how composers and musicians can communicate different places, times, or states of mind through a musical expedition! (KK) Concert Theme: Music: Books for the Ears The TSO Chamber Orchestra (46 musicians) performs an exciting program for kindergarten through 2nd grade students at the Berger Performing Arts Center (1200 W. Speedway Blvd). This program will utilize the theme, Music: Books for the Ears. The music selected for KinderKonzerts! communicates with the listener to create a mood, sense of place, characters and action, all to tell a story without words. The concert also features the TSO String Quartet and a musical re-telling of a popular children s book by local author Susan Lowell and music written by TSO Assistant Principal Violist, Ilona Vukovic-Gay. IMPORTANT PROCEDURES & SCHEDULING NOTES 1. Programs fill on a first-come, first-served basis. If you return your registration form and the program is already filled, you will automatically be added to a waiting list for each requested program. You will be notified when your registration form has been received and whether or not you have been placed on the waiting list. You will be notified again if space becomes available. 2. Registration: Make copies of all completed registration forms to keep for your records before sending in the forms via email, mail, or fax to the TSO. Make sure your school office also has copies of your registration forms. 3. If you are not returning to your current school next year, include the name and contact information for the person who will be working with the TSO in the 2017-18 school year. 4. Scheduling: Provide as many workable dates and times as possible for your school, ranked if necessary, to assist scheduling. The TSO will determine final schedules on a firstcome, first-served basis. Thank you for your assistance! 5. Be sure to send an up-to-date 2017-18 school calendar with your reservation form. 6. Cancellations: If it is necessary for you to cancel a MIS date, the TSO is not obligated to reschedule. 7. Payment: The TSO will send you an invoice based on the total number of programs and seats you reserve. After the spring 2018 deadline date listed on the registration form, your school will be financially responsible for the FULL number of seats registered, whether the seats are used or not. 8. Please submit purchase order or payment in Fall 2017 upon receipt of your invoice. The final deadline for receipt of payment or a purchase order is Friday, April 20, 2018.
