Guest of Honor Cinema in Morocco has a long history. In 1944, the Moroccan Cinematographic Center (CCM), the nation's film regulatory body, was established. Studios were also opened in Rabat. In 1958 Director Mohammed Ousfour would create the first Moroccan movie, Le fils maudit "The Damned Son". Morocco In 1968, the first Mediterranean Film Festival was held in Tangier. This was followed in 1982 with the first national festival of cinema, which was held in Rabat. In 2001, the first International Film Festival of Marrakech (FIFM) was also held in Marrakech. In the 6th edition, LAFF is Honored to receive the Moroccan cinema as the guest of Honor

Etisal : Step Workshop In 2014 LAFF decided to start its ETISAL Fund which aims to support the uprising 18 to 30 years old African filmmakers, who currently live in Africa, to produce their films. And support these filmmakers to overcome their challenges and realize their creativity. Until now ETISAL signed more than 38 protocols of collaboration with different funders including production houses, festivals, individuals, TV and radio stations, to create a new platform for African Film Mart.
Etisal : Step Workshop Step script development workshop is a project of Etisal fund. This edition, 27 projects have been submitted to the step workshop from 17 countries. A selection committee headed by the director Azza El Hosseiny, the director Amir Ramsis & the critic Hala El Mawy selected 6 scripts to be developed during the upcoming edition. The selected projects are : 1. My freedom by Genan Muhammady Morocco 2. Goat thieves by Neanzy Robert Oganda 3. Bori Bana by Akafo jowel Ivory coast 4. The Graduates Rahima Nanfoka Oganda 5. 200 meters by Amin Nayfa Palestine 6. In the land of wonder by Nadine Khan - Egypt
Etisal : Step program Grant to develop African long narratives A committee leaded by the director Azza El hosseiny, head of Etisal program, the scenarist Sayed fouad, president of Luxor African film festival, the filmmaker Amir Ramsis, the critic Farouk Abdel khalek & the critic Hala El Mawy, reviewed all the proposed scenarios and chose two projects to get the grant. Those two films are: 1. Sankara by Hisham Ayouch Morocco (Prize 5000$ for the preparation phase) 2. You will die at twenty by Amgad Abo El Ela production by Hossam Elwan Egypt / Sudan
Etisal : Step program Grant to develop African long narratives It is a new venture of Etisal this year's where will be launching the first meeting of the Egyptian filmmakers, the meeting will be held for two days gathering every Egyptian filmmaker from all generations to identify the problems and barriers they face during the production of films in Egypt. The meeting will raise its claims to the parliament to achieve the aspirations of the directors of cinema Egypt.
