About the Comoser Timothy Mahr is a well-known and highly acclaimed comoser, conductor and clinician throughout the United States, Canada, Mexico, aan, Singaore, Thailand, and Norway. He is currently roessor o Music at St. Ola College, where he conducts the St. Ola Band and teaches classes in conducting, comosition, and music education. He also serves as the conductor o the Minnesota Symhonic Winds, a 009 reciient o the Sudler Silver Scroll Award rom the ohn hili Sousa oundation, and is ast-resident o the North Central Division o the College Band Directors National Association. His conducting career began in Milaca, Minnesota, as an Instrumental Music teacher at Milaca High School. He was Director o Bands at the University o Minnesota, Duluth, or ten years and was the ounder and conductor o the community-based Twin orts Wind Ensemble. Mahr graduated rom St. Ola College in Northield, Minnesota, with a Bachelor o Music Degree in Theory and Comosition and a Bachelor o Arts Degree in Music Education. He comleted his Masters Degree in Trombone erormance and earned his Doctor o Musical Arts Degree in Instrumental Conducting rom The Mahr was the irst reciient o the American Bandmasters Association Commissioning roect and continues to receive commissions nationally. Notable commissions include works or the Music Educators National Conerence and the United States Air orce Band. A ormer member o the National Band Association Board o Directors, Mahr was elected to membershi in the American Bandmasters Association in 993. He was awarded the ABA/Ostwald Award in 99, and has been the reciient o grants rom Meet the Comoser and the American Comosers orum as well as the National Band Association s Citation o Excellence. Mahr s works have been erormed at Lincoln Center and Carnegie Hall, the Midwest Clinic, the Music Educators National Conerence, national conventions o the American Bandmasters Association and the College Band Directors National Association, and numerous state and regional conventions. Many o his works have been broadcast on the Minnesota ublic Radio network. Recent recordings can be ound on the Sony, Citadel, Crest, Mark, Caua, and St. Ola Records labels.
