APPENDICES Please continue to find out more about Film Screening Rights Technical Specification Bar Options 11
APPENDIX: FILM SCREENING RIGHTS Due to strict copyright law, Belmont Filmhouse may only screen films after arranging a license from the rights-holder. If you would like to show a film in one of our screens, then we will do our best to source your requested title in a professional screening format and at a fixed price. Additionally, as we are a professional cinema working to a high technical standard, we will endeavour to arrange to screen the film for you from a high quality, professional screening format such as DCP (rather than from a more unreliable format such as DVD or Blu-ray, which presents a lower quality image when projected onto the big screen). The cost of hiring a film is a set 200+ VAT in addition to the main venue hire charge. This fee will cover copyright clearance, access to materials, shipment of materials and any other costs involved in licensing and screening the film. Please be aware that we cannot guarantee availability of all film titles, because sometimes the righs are not available, or sometimes there are no screening materials accessible in the UK at a reasonable cost. If there are no professional screening materials available in the UK, then it may still be possible to arrange rights clearance for a screening from DVD, and our programme planning staff will advise you o the best solution. Any collaborative screenings in the public programme, which have not been subject to a BBFC certificate, must be certificated and approved by the local council. This process requires additional lead-in time and will be considered in any terms negotiated between the programming team and any external partners. 12
APPENDIX: TECHNICAL SPECS. Cinemas: All three auditoria provide state-of-the-art cinema facilities, that will be managed on the day by one of our technical staff, who include some of the most experienced cinema technicians in the UK. There are lapel and roaming microphones available for use in the screens. If you require any additional equipment we can source this from one of our regular suppliers, such as AVC Media, and our technical team would be happy to discuss your specific requirements with you.
