About the Comosition Dominion is a comosition or the develoing concert band that catures the emotions during the time o war. The term dominion is oten used in history to describe British rule, and in science iction to describe certain ruling actions in sace. Either way, a call to action is necessary to reserve the dominion s rule. The iece starts with an aggressive eighth-note rhythm that sets the tone or the entire comosition. The main melody is a call to arms and aears at m. 3 in the low voices with the eighth-note rhythm interecting rom the uer woodwinds. The melody develos harmonically at m. 34. Make sure to bring out the dynamic contrast in the to m crescendo throughout this section. The oening aggressive eighth note rhythm returns at m. 54 to signal a change in tone. A more relective, lyrical section ollows at m. 6. Be careul not to seed u going back into the ast section at m. 75. This temo change should be immediate and dramatic. The main melody returns but this time without the eighth-note interections. This gesture is saved or the inal ush at m. 90 which leads to a rousing conclusion. About the Comoser Sean O Loughlin (b.97) is a resh voice and a rising name in the music world. His music is characterized by vibrant rhythms, assionate melodies, and colorul scoring. Commissions rom the Boston os Orchestra, the Los Angeles hilharmonic and the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra highlight and showcase his diverse musical abilities.
