Although the figures provided are for the epro PS models, the disassembly for the epro PS Classic, epro PS EE and epro PS OD models are the same. Instructions for Replacing the in a 7685x-15 epro PS Series Unit, Style 3-2396-x, RoHS Compliant 1. Disconnect the power source cable and any other cables from the PanelMate unit. 2. Remove the chassis cover from the electronics module by unscrewing the four screws at the back of the unit and the single screw on the connector side of the unit. See Figure 1. 3. Remove the four screws from the CPU circuit board. Remove the standoffs from the four corners of the CPU circuit board. See Figure 2. 4. Gently tilt the circuit board up along the right-side edge of the board and disconnect the video cable, inverter cable and touchscreen cable. See Figure 3. The CPU circuit board is now free from the unit. 5. Remove the six screws from the top and bottom edges of the display plate. Remove the two screws and touchscreen cable cover from the right edge of the display plate. See Figure 4. 6. Gently pull the touchscreen cable through the opening in the display plate and lift the display plate off the front panel. Flip the display plate over to expose the LCD. FIGURE 1. FIGURE 2. 7. Remove the nylon screws from the inverter board and disconnect the backlight cables from the inverter board. See Figure 5. Note: Nylon standoffs have been placed next to the backlight connectors to prevent the cables from disconnecting from the inverter. The inverter has to be removed in order to disconnect the backlight cables. 8. Remove the screws from the four corners of the display. See Figure 5. 9. With the display module facing down, lift up one end of the filament tape covering each backlight cable. Remove the backlight cables from the slots in the display. This will expose tiny silver screws holding the backlight cartridges in place. See Figure 6. 10. Remove the screws using a small jewelers screwdriver. See Figure 7. 11. Gently and carefully, pull the backlight cartridges out of the display. Make sure to pull the backlight cartridges straight out. THE BACKLIGHT CARTRIDGE IS VERY FRAGILE. ANY TWISTING OR BENDING DURING REMOVAL CAN CAUSE THE LAMPS TO BREAK POSSIBLY LEAVING BRO- KEN GLASS INSIDE THE DISPLAY. 12. Gently and carefully, insert the new backlight cartridges into the display. Slide the backlight cartridges very carefully and straightly. Make sure not to twist or bend the cartridge. Be careful not to push or tug on the wires attached to the backlight cartridge as they are very fragile. See Figure 8. THE NEW BACKLIGHT CARTRIDGES ARE VERY FRAGILE. ANY TWISTING OR BENDING DURING INSERTION CAN CAUSE THE LAMPS TO BREAK POSSIBLY LEAVING BROKEN GLASS INSIDE THE DISPLAY. BE CAREFUL NOT TO PUSH OR TUG ON THE WIRES ATTACHED TO THE BACK- LIGHT CARTRIDGES. THE BACKLIGHT CABLE WIRES ARE VERY FRAGILE. ANY TWISTING OR BENDING OF THE WIRES CAN CAUSE THEM TO BREAK. 13. Reattach the backlight cartridges to the display with the small screws. Reinstall the backlight cables into the slots in the display. Recover the backlight cables with the filament tape. 14. Place the display module back in place upon the displ plate. Reattach the display module to the display plate. See Figure 5. 15. Reattach the backlight cables to the inverter board. Reattach the inverter barrier and inverter board to the display plate. See Figure 5. Cleaning: Clean off any fingerprints or dirt that may have gotten on the inner display surface or the backside of the front panel. 16. Reattach the display plate to the front panel, making sure to feed the touchscreen cable through the opening in the plate. Reattach the touchscreen cable cover to the display plate. See Figure 4. 17. Reinstall the CPU circuit board. See Figure 2. 19. Verify that all previous connections are in place and that all wires are inside the edges of the display plate. Reinstall the chassis cover. Remove the chassis cover from the electronics module by unscrewing the four screws at the back of the unit and the single screw on the connector side of the unit. See Figure 9. 3. Remove the standoffs from the four corners of the CPU circuit board. See Figure 10. 4. Rotate the unit 90º. Remove the screws from the power supply. See Figure 11. 5. 6. Rotate the unit back 90. Remove the screws from the CPU circuit board and install one in the power supply. Also remove the screws from the touchscreen cable cover plate. Remove the cover plate and unplug the touchscreen cable from the CPU circuit board. See Figure 13. 7. Gently tilt the circuit board up along the connector edge of the board and remove the video cable from the cable clip. See Figure 14. 8. Lay the CPU circuit board back down and install the standoffs in the four corners of the board. Remove the screws along the top and bottom edge of the display plate. See Figure 15. 9. Gently pull the touchscreen cable through the opening in the display plate and remove the front panel. Lay it aside. 10. Turn the display plate over so that it rests on the standoffs. 11. Unplug the backlight cables from the connectors on the inverter board. See Figure 16. Note: have been placed between the backlight connectors to prevent the cables from disconnecting from the inverter. The inverter has to be removed in order to disconnect the backlight cables. 12. 13. As you remove the display module from the display plate, be careful to disconnect the video cable from the back of the display by rotating the display away from you. See Figure 17. 14. With the display module facing down, lift up one end of the filament tape covering each backlight cable. Remove the backlight cables from the slots in the display. This will expose tiny silver screws holding the backlight cartridges in place. See Figure 18. 15. Remove the screws using a small jewelers screwdriver. See Figure 19. 16. Gently and carefully, pull the backlight cartridges out of the display. Make sure to pull the backlight cartridges straight out. THE BACKLIGHT CARTRIDGE IS VERY FRAGILE. Reattach the backlight cartridges to the display with the small screws. Reinstall the backlight cables into the slots in the display. Recover the backlight cables with the filament tape. 19. Reconnect the video cable to the video connector on the display module. Make sure the excess cable is pushed through the slot to the other side of the display plate. See Figure 16 and Figure 17. 20. Reattach the display to the display plate. Ensure the backlight cables go around the outside of the standoffs used to mount the display. See Figure 16. 21. Reattach the backlight cables to the inverter board. Ensure the connectors are on either side of the small white standoffs. See Figure 16. 22. Reattach the inverter board. See Figure 16. 23. Reattach the display plate to the front panel making sure to feed the touchscreen cable through the opening in the plate. See Figure 15. Cleaning: Clean off any fingerprints or dirt that may have gotten on the inner display surface or the backside of the front panel. 24. Remove the standoffs from the CPU circuit board and tilt the board along the connector edge to place the video cable back into the cable clip. See Figure 14. 25. Reinstall the CPU circuit board. 26. Reconnect the touchscreen cable to the CPU circuit board and reattach the touchscreen cable cover plate. See Figure 13. 27. Reattach the power supply. See Figure 12 and Figure 11. 28. Reattach the standoffs in the four corners of the CPU circuit board. See Figure 10. 29. Verify that all previous connections are in place and that all wires are under the CPU circuit board. Reinstall the chassis cover. See Figure 9. 30. Connect the power source cable and any other cables.
