Overview Bosch and Milestone work together to ensure seamless integration of Bosch IP video devices within the XProtect IP video management software (VMS). Milestones dedicated driver pack (v7.5) covers a wide range of functionalities including Bosch embedded Intelligent Video Analytic events. With Bosch Intelligent Video Analytics, up to eight different IVA rules can be configured via the camera interface simultaneously. XProtect can receive these events from the camera, log them, and generate corresponding alarms. This tech note will describe how to configure Xprotect to receive, and distinguish, these Video Analytic events. 1 2 3 4 5 6 Camera Configuration Enable IVA Rules 7 8 IVA must be enabled in the camera, and you can configure any IVA rules that the camera supports. Take note of the order of your task rules, you will need this information later. In this example, Detect any object, Line Crossing, and Loitering are configured as tasks 1, 2, and 3. XProtect Configuration Create Camera Events Open the Management Client Under Site Navigation, select Devices Cameras Select the camera with the active IVA tasks, then select the Events tab. Create three new events, all configured as Video analytics event started, and assign them to Motion Windows 1, 2 & 3, respectively. (corresponding to the first three IVA tasks in the camera)

Create Alarms Under Site Navigation, select Alarms Alarm Definitions Create three new Alarms: o Provide an appropriate rule name and description o Under Trigger, select External Events as the Triggering Event o Select the appropriate User-Defined Event from the server as the Source
Testing the Configuration Rule Log Generate some IVA alarms in the camera Under Site Navigation, select Server Logs Rule Log The Rule Logs you created should be displayed Alarms Open an XProtect Smart Client that is monitoring the camera with IVA detection tasks Generate some IVA alarms in the camera Select the Alarm Manager tab The IVA alarms you generated should be displayed
Displaying metadata overlays in Xprotect, v2014 has the ability to overlay and display IVA bounding boxes on the video stream from Bosch IP cameras. The following steps are required to enable the display. Enable Metadata stream Open the Management Client Under Site Navigation, select Servers Recording Servers Right click the Metadata stream from a Bosch camera, and set it to Enabled
Enable Metadata Display Under Site Navigation, select Servers Recording Servers Select the camera with the active IVA tasks, then select the Client tab.
