To the Lord Mayor and Report No. 04/2019 Members of the Dublin City Council Report of the Assistant Chief Executive Arts Funding for 2019 (Arts Act 2003) Arts Funding for 2018 (Arts Acts 2003) In accordance with Section 6 of the Arts Act 2003 local authorities may provide financial assistance for the purpose of: (a) Stimulating public interest in the Arts, (b) Promoting knowledge, appreciation and practice of the arts, or (c) Improving standards in the arts within its functional area. Dublin City Council advertised its Arts Grants Scheme on 16th September 2018 with a closing date of 1 st November 2018. A total of 163 applications were received and these were examined and evaluated by a Sub Group of the Arts, Culture, Leisure and Community SPC. There are four types of Arts Grants awarded. 1. Project Grants: Applications by Artists, Arts Organisations and Collectives to mount specific projects such as plays, exhibitions, concerts etc. 152K 2. Neighbour Grants: Support for Arts Projects with significant input by residents of, and located in, a City Neighbour. 84K 3. Voluntary Grants: Support for Arts Projects with significant input by Voluntary Arts Groups. 18K 4. Revenue Grants: Annual support for established Arts Organisations. 276K Resolution: That Dublin City Council notes the contents of Report No. 4/2019 and hereby approves the contents therein. 2019-P018 Project Big Bang Festival of Rhythm Funding is for Big Bang Dance Project in collaboration with Dance Theatre of Ireland; Coisceim and Catherine Young Dance who have a special performance of their large outdoor event during this Festival. 2,000 2019-P019 Project Clare Monnelly Funding is towards fees for a third actor for the production of a new play 'Minefield' as part of the Dublin Fringe Festival. 4,250 2019-P022 Project The Mart Gallery & Studio's DAC Funding is awarded for Group Exhibition of Mart Studio members and Group Workshops from Exhibiting Artists. 2,500 2019-P023 Project Dublin City University Funding is for Artist's fee. 2,500 2019-P025 Project THISISPOPBAB Y Ltd 2019-P028 Project C.A.F.E. Ltd T/A Create Funding towards 'Conversations after Sex', production of a new play for 17 performances at Galway International Arts Festival 2019 and at the Dublin Theatre Festival 2019. 4,500 The funding is awarded for Strands 1, 2 and 3 of the Learning Development Programme. 3,000

2019-P029 Project Noelle Brown / NB Theatre Funding is for one week researching and interviewing a cross section of women sourced from The Well Woman Centre, Mysecondspring.ie and Transgender Equality Network Ireland, who have experienced menopause symptoms in preparation of 2 weeks work at Fringe lab with actor Ali White and sing / actor Sarah Kinlen. 3,000 2019-P032 Project Deirdre O'Leary Funding towards exploration and presentation of solutions to the homelessness crisisinvolving musician Deirdre O' Leary, composer Andrea Molino and filmmaker Christopher Ash. It will result in a live music/film performance. 3,500 2019-P034 Project Kirkos Funding awarded for the 'Blackout' element of the proposal, a multi-sensory music/theatre experience. 2,500 2019-P035 Project Clowns Without Borders, Ireland Funding is towards 10 Weeks of social circus workshops and summer camp with 20 young people living in Direct Provision in Dublin's inner city. 2,000 2019-P038 Project Tonnata Music Funding is awarded for Stimmung performance and Postal Notes copresented with the Irish Composers Collective. 3,000 2019-P039 Project Noaoise Roo Callan For the recording of an e.p. (short album) and live event at Project Arts Centre addressing mental health. 2,000

2019-P040 Project Brokentalkers For project, exploring assisted suicide to be performed at Project Arts Centre as part of an international tour. 4,500 2019-P044 Project Liz Roche Company 2019-P047 Project Irish Writers Centre 2019-P049 Project Irish Theatre Institute CLG 2019-P051 Project New Dublin Voices Funding of 3,000 is awarded towards the development of the film 'Naher closer, nearer sooner' to be screened at the Goethe Institute and 500 for dancer Lucia Kickham for the development of two new works. 3,500 Funding is awarded for ' New Irish Communities Creative Writing' workshops. 4,000 Funding is awarded for the overall programme of the Irish Theatre Institute and in particular the professional development of actors ages 55-80+ and delivering artist centred activities and development throughout 2019. 4,000 Funding towards 'In Time of War' - commemorative music pieces to mark the decade of various centenaries from the First World War to the beginning and end of the Civil War (1922-23). This is an ongoing programme active since 2014. 2,000

It will result in a 4 week, 23- performance run to take place in the Abbey Theatre in November 2019. 4,500 Funding towards the production of Beckett's Firt Play to be presented as part of the Dublin Theatre Festival 2019. 2,500 Funding for production of Faultline at the Gate Theatre. 4,500 For a dynamic Cello festival in Feb 2019 which will take place in various locations across Dublin 3,500 Funding is awarded for Event 3 The VR Film screening and installation at IMMA. 2,000 2019-P063 Project Clare Dunne Funding is for 'Sure Look It, Fuck it' - at Space Upstairs, Project Arts Centre from 17th - 23rd March. 2019-P075 Project Irish Modern Dance Theatre 2019-P077 Project Emily Aoibheann McDonnell Funding is for 'Dance from the Dance: Contemporary Irish identity & the Dancing Body' - a festival taking place in November 2019 at the Project Arts Centre presenting a week-long festival of Irish choreography showcasing 11 established and emerging Irish choreographers from Ireland and the Irish diaspora. 3,000 For the presentation of two aerial focused performances as part of the Dublin Fringe Festival and at Project Arts Centre 2,000 2019-P079 Project Michelle Read Performance and practical research and development for a new performance piece about memory and forgetting.
