DeepBlue Orchestra 6 Meet some of the DeepBlue team who will be facilitating the SummerSchool, running workshops, giving master classes and offering private lessons! Anitah Kumar Cello Anitah joined DeepBlue in 2015 as a cellist in their India Stories production at the Brisbane Powerhouse, but has been involved with the group through their YoungBlue program since she was 11 years old! Anitah loves seeing others inspired to find new ways of experiencing and playing music through DeepBlue. Anitah also performs solo and in a variety of orchestras and musical groups. When Anitah is not playing cello, you can find her huddled overs books in QUT s library as she studies law and justice. She hopes to one day find a way to combine her twin passions of law and music! Kaitlyn Bowen Violin Before she was an official member of Deep Blue, Kaitlyn was one of the Young Blue participants. Her passion and love for music has pushed her through life and she one day hopes to dominate the world stage as the world s best multi-genre violinist and inspire people of all ages to pursue music. Outside of the practice room, Kaitlyn is often found writing and recording string covers, taking apart old electronic gear to see how they work, or researching and designing new electronic gear to create her own brand of electric string instruments and pedals. Sophie Loades Cello BMus QUT The effect that music has on people and its role within communities across the world is Sophie's passion, working in community music programs in the Solomon Islands, Peru, Zimbabwe and across Australia. Sophie started working for DeepBlue in 2006 as a performer, and has since then worked for DeepBlue as a tour manager, co-producer and community engagement coordinator. Sophie has recently completed her Research Masters degree at QUT utilising DeepBlue's engagement programs in order to understand in more detail the impact of community engagement in the music industry. Allan Bremner Electronics and processing Allan began his music degree playing classical trumpet and finished it playing his trumpet through his computer. One of the heads behind the technological side of DeepBlue, Allan spends most of his time fiddling about with musical machines, playing conventional instruments in unconventional ways, and generally having a laugh bending sound into interesting shapes. He has been involved in many of DeepBlue's educational programs and loves nothing more than opening and de-mystifying the world of electronic music. Greta Kelly Violin Greta plays violin and theremin with DeepBlue who have released four CDs and one DVD. She also plays violin and shahkeman in a number of projects including Mzaza, a world music six-piece who have recorded three CDs. After studying at The University of Queensland she lived in Prague Place fill up FAST so get in quick!
