How to access and use University of Parma library resources The University of Parma holds a rich collection of books, journals and digital resources. You can become acquainted with our libraries and information tools by exploring the University of Parma Library System Home Page. From the University of Parma Home Page http://www.unipr.it, click on BIBLIOTECHE (Libraries) on the right. You will be directed to the Library System Home Page http://www.unipr.it/arpa/setbibl/settore.htm

OPAC E-journals Find citation Databases Ask a librarian DSpace This page will be your starting point for accessing all our information tools and resources. We can now have a look on the different research tools that you have at your disposal: OPAC http://www.unipr.it/arpa/setbibl/ricerca.html E-Journals --> Periodici Elettronici http://aire.cab.unipd.it:9003/unipr/azlist Bibliographic Databases --> Banche dati http://www.unipr.it/arpa/setbibl/banche-dati-gen.html Find the citation service --> Cerca la citazione http://tinyurl.com/64cnsb Ask a librarian service --> Chiedi ai bibliotecari http://www.unipr.it/arpa/setbibl/reference.html DSpace Institutional repository-à DSpaceUnipr

Let's see together how each of these services/tools works OPAC http://www.unipr.it/arpa/setbibl/ricerca.html You can choose the Italian, English or French version of the research form as well as the simple and the advanced search type. Our OPAC works as many other similar tools, so there is no need to spend many words on how to choose the research field or how t refine your search. Just take into account that the OPAC is a collective tool: all the academic and public libraries in Parma participate in this catalogue, so it is important that you correctly locate the document you find, in order to identify which library holds it. For instance, access the catalogue and search this book book: E-learning : strategies for delivering knowledge in the digital age / Marc J. Rosenberg. - New York [etc.] : McGraw-Hill, c2001. Search by title and/or by author ad you will find the bibliographic record

You must click on localizzazione (which means location) in order to find out which of the Parma libraries holds the document

In this case, you will find the book at the Economics library (Biblioteca di Economia). Click again on the name of the library and you will find information on library address, opening hours and a link to the library homepage.

Many books related to digital libraries are located in the Cultural Heritage Department Beni library (LIS) section - Via D Azeglio, first floor, near Prof. Tammaro s office. So, if you need some documents located in this library, please, refer to Dr. Jacopo Viola and you will be able to access them! For any other features of our Online Library Catalogue, you can refer to the online help: http://opacsol.unipr.it/sebinaopac/opac?action=help

E-JOURNALS To access the University of Parma E-journals collection you must click on SFX - Catalogo dei periodici elettronici

Here you can search and /or browse the catalogue of all the digital journals available at the University of Parma. Please, take into account that you must choose which kind of search you want to do: "Inizia con" means Starts with "Contiene" means Contains "Titolo esatto" means Exact title. Once you have written your title click on "Vai" (go) and you will be directed to the SFX menu.

You can fill in the form, or you can access the journal home page simply clicking on "GO"

FIND YOUR PAPER - CERCA LA CITAZIONE This is a service that allows you to access a paper in digital version directly. To access this service, go to the Lybrary System Home Page and click on the fourth link on your right

Simply fill in the form and click on "Vai" (Go). You will be directed to the paper you need in digital version

BIBLIOGRAPHIC DATABASES Starting form the Library System home page you can find the list of available bibliographic databases: click on the fifth link on the right side "Banche dati"

You will find a presentation of University of Parma databases collection. If you want to choose your database, click on Banche dati: elenco alfabetico generale that contains an alphabetical list

LISA: Library and Information Science Abstracts and EMERALD are the most suitable tools for searching references on Library and information technology LISA research form is very simple: you can use both the quick and the advanced search

Once you have defined your query, you will be shown the list of retrieved records

SFX link By clicking on the SFX button you can access the SFX menu, that connect the database to the full text, when available to University of Parma users (i.e. if we have paid the subscription)

Click again on the Go button to access the full text

If the full text is not available, you can click on Clicca qui per visualizzare altre opzioni which means Other services and you will have other opportunities; for instance you can search the Catalogue and check if some Parma library holds the printed collection of the journal, or you can ask a Document delivery service by completing the related form Link to the OPAC Document delivery

As you will see, journal title, Author name and other metadata has been automatically inserted into the form by SFX. You have to write your name and e-mail, as well as your telephone number.

ASK A LIBRARIAN Chiedi al Sistema Bibliotecario Parmense This is a service recently activated in our Library system. You can ask for assistance in your bibliographic research by filling in an online form. Please, click on the link on the bottom of the page so that you can access the service as a guest. Then fill in the form and write your question in English.
