Nouns can be used as the object of the verb in a sentence. Example: I like to play basketball. Nouns can be used as the object of a preposition in a sentence. Example: I pumped air in the basketball. In is a preposition. Some other common prepositions are about, across, at, between, by, for, from, in, of, on, to, with. Adjectives describe, or modify, nouns. This means that adjectives change the meaning of the noun, usually just a little bit. Examples: Basketball is my favorite sport. I like to play full-court basketball. I pumped air in the deflated (low air, flat, soft) basketball. An adjective can also come after the to be verb. Example: The basketball is inflated (full of air). The baby played with the puppy. 10:40-11:00 Bible Discussion Lost Sheep - Luke 15:1-7 1 Dishonest tax collectors and other notorious sinners often came to listen to Jesus sermons; 2 but this caused complaints from the Jewish religious leaders and the experts on Jewish law because he was associating with such despicable people even eating with them! 3-4 So Jesus used this illustration: If you had a hundred sheep and one of them strayed away and was lost in the wilderness, wouldn t you leave the ninety-nine others to go and search for the lost one until you found it? 5 And then you would joyfully carry it home on your shoulders. 6 When you arrived you would call together your friends and neighbors to rejoice with you because your lost sheep was found. 7 Well, in the same way heaven will be happier over one lost sinner who returns to God than over ninety-nine others who haven t strayed away!
