john edchock big band series (1986) Background: John Fedchocks illustrious career in jazz has spanned nearly three decades. Since his emergence on the scene in 1980, Fedchock has established himsel as a world-class trombone soloist, a heralded bandleader, and a Grammy-nominated arranger. An in-demand perormer and writer in New York City or oer twenty years, his multiaceted talents hae led him to become one o NYCs premiere jazz artists. His critically acclaimed John Fedchock New York Big Band has become a marquee group, showcasing Fedchocks trombone and arranging as well as the bands all-star soloists. The bands our CDs or the Reseroir Music label, New York Big Band, On The Edge, No Nonsense, and Up & Running, hae all receied high praise rom critics, and extraordinary success on national jazz radio charts. Fedchock began his career as a jazz trombonist when he joined the legendary Woody Herman Orchestra in 1980. He toured with Woodys Thundering Herd or seen years, during which time he was musical director and a eatured soloist. He sered as musical coordinator and chie arranger in the production o Hermans last two Grammy Award nominated albums 50th Anniersary Tour and Woodys Gold Star, and receied accolades rom jazz journalists worldwide. Fedchock still maintains a close association with the Herman orchestra, perorming with the group on occasion and continuing to add his own compositions and arrangements to the bands library. Fedchock has toured with T.S. Monk, Gerry Mulligans Concert Jazz Band, Louie Bellsons Big Band, the Bob Belden Ensemble, the Manhattan Jazz Orchestra, and the Carnegie Hall Jazz Band, and has perormed at jazz estials and concert halls around the world. As a solo artist, he appears throughout the United States and has toured abroad as a guest trombonist/composer/conductor. To add to his already dierse list o multiple talents, Fedchock is also a producer o note, and has lent his studio expertise to seeral recent recording projects. Born in Cleeland, Ohio, Fedchock is a graduate o The Ohio State Uniersity with degrees in Music Education and Jazz Studies. He also holds a masters degree in Jazz Studies and Contemporary Media rom the prestigious Eastman School o Music in Rochester, New York. He is an in-demand clinician, and conducts seminars and workshops at colleges and uniersities across the country. A strong adocate or arts in education, Fedchock is a jazz trombone instructor at Purchase College in Purchase, NY and at Temple Uniersity in Philadelphia, PA.
