Aisle On THE Member Newsletter 2019 issue 1 Greetings Members! Happy New Year! This is the first issue of On the Aisle in 2019 and we are starting the new year off in style with a brand new look! Although the newsletter may look different, enclosed is still all of the pertinent information about the exciting performances coming to our stages and how our Members can take advantage of their Ticket Priority benefit. As a reminder, a digital copy of On the Aisle is also available by visiting kennedy-center.org/ota. In addition to this new look, we have made some exciting changes to Membership as well. On January 1, we officially changed our Membership rates the first increase in more than 10 years. Why now, you might ask? The last time the Kennedy Center raised its rates was in 2005 14 years ago! Since 2005, the costs of all the things that go into a production have risen nearly 80%. As our operating expenses continue to rise, we must maintain the excellence of our world-class performances, inclusive arts education initiatives, and other programming. In the last few years alone, we have added exciting programs and education initiatives such as Broadway Center Stage, Arts Across America, Turnaround Arts, and so much more. Since ticket sales and other earned income cover only half of our rising budget each year, we count on the generous support of individual donors to help bridge the gap! With these new Membership levels come some exciting new benefits to deepen your connection to the arts. At the Associate level ( formerly Sustainer), you now receive access to special Kennedy Center updates and discount offers. At the Sponsor level, Members are eligible for reduced service fees on purchases for Kennedy Center performances. We also have a new Membership level called the Principal level which features benefits such as the opportunity to attend four NSO Working Rehearsals per season, an invitation to purchase tickets to the Kennedy Center s July 4th Celebration, and a voucher redeemable for a complimentary Kennedy Center Souvenir Cup. If you have any questions about your Membership and these new benefits, please do not hesitate to reach out to our office at (202) 416-8310 or email us at Membership@ kennedy-center.org. Thank you for continuing to help bring unparalleled and diverse artistry to our Kennedy Center stages, and keeping the performing arts in America vibrant and relevant. The Kennedy Center s programs would not be possible without your support and we are truly grateful. The Membership Team
