HURRICANE BOOK CLUB FOR SEASON 4 Shetland Library joins Falkirk Community Trust Libraries, Glasgow Libraries and Orkney Library & Archive for season four of the popular library-run, Twitter-based Hurricane Book Club. The initiative is led by Pan Macmillan and supported by the Scottish Book Trust. This season features three titles specially selected by Picador s Senior Commissioning Editor, Sophie Jonathan: Burial Rites by Hannah Kent, inspired by true events and following the final days of a young woman accused of murder in Iceland in 1829; The End We Start From by Megan Hunter, a haunting but hopeful dystopian vision of a familiar world made dangerous and unstable; The Doll Factory by Elizabeth Macneal, an intoxicating story of art, obsession and possession. Each title has a two-month slot culminating in simultaneous Hurricane Book Club meetings at Shetland Library, Falkirk Library, Orkney Library and the Mitchell, with a live Twitter discussion, so the libraries can interact with each other and any reader, anywhere, can join in too. The meeting dates are Thursday 28 February, Thursday 25 April and Thursday 27 June, all at 6pm. Readers anywhere can follow and participate in the discussion through the dedicated twitter handle @HurricaneBkClub or the hashtag #HurricaneBookClub.
