Findings of the Research History In France the word revolution was first applied to music during the 18th century but had slowly been applied to the historical term. Revolution had no longer meant a body s completion of one rotation around its path, rather, it came to be known as an abrupt change or rupture from the past. This new definition had then started improvements in French society. Then French musicians had started to consistently apply this new definition to their music that they were creating. Michel-Paul-Gui de Chabanon, an amateur musician and writer, is known to be the first writer/musician to consistently apply the word revolution to French music. After all this has occurred the French Revolution that we all know and love had taken off and eventually started a whole new society evolving around music. Biology Music is in all regions of the brain that scientists have mapped already. Music is processed and analyzed in the emotional part of the brain. It stays in our long term memory. A PET scan showed a group of researchers that dopamine was released in the striatum during the peak of emotional arousal when listening to music. When you listen to music it releases enzymes such as dopamine. This is known as the feel good hormone. Even more chemicals are released if you do other things with music, such as singing along with the song. The chemical that is released when
you do this is called oxytocin which helps people bond like when they have the same taste in music. Math In films music is a very important thing, it creates background noises, helps set moods for the film and many others. But if not used properly it can create too much noise and make it so you can t hear dialog.with narrative music it should last from 3-5 seconds. It sets the mood to what s coming up next in the film being watched. therefore people like it when it plays before a scene. We would find the standard deviation of all the narrative songs before a scene, then draw normal curve to see what's ordinary for the narrative song. We had learned this in class and did experiments and as a class we didn t so i am very familiar with doing this considering how many times we have done it. The reason that this is important is because it gives examples for filmmakers to have a certain amount for a song and to not have it too long or short but to have it ordinary.
Health Music has been proved to help the brain develop new skills that are helpful in communication and mood. Music can help develop communication skills like maintaining concentration, vocabulary development, self expression, creativity, and memory. These skills are useless in effective communication as communication is used in different forms like from talking to a friend, writing an essay for a teacher, and just sharing the same taste in music with someone else. Listening to music releases dopamine which is called the feel good Hormone. Studies have shown that listening to your favorite type of music gives you a natural high. Listening to music directly affects your hormones. If you listen to music that you enjoy, it decreases the amount of hormone cortisol. Listening to music also decreases stress which causes 60% of all illnesses and diseases. Music is considered a natural antidepressant. This is because of the release of the neurotransmitters dopamine and serotonin. Music is proven to be used as a therapy for mental illnesses like depression, trauma, schizophrenia, and anxiety. Music is something that someone who is struggling can relate to and use to not feel alone People who struggle with depression can use music as an effective coping mechanism instead of harm. People with anxiety can use relax to relax or distract themselves from trouble. Music therapy can be something used as a treatment for people with mental illness. Music therapy can be used to slow down the heart rate and breath of someone with anxiety and facing an anxiety attack.
English Literature is related to music in the case that they have the same general idea. Both literature and music can impact and influence people with words and tones of the work. Music is such an important element in people s lives it helps people relate to fictional situations and characters. Music can provide a new tone, feel, or emotion to the story for example, if you are reading The Odyssey, songs that make you feel empowered, strong, or brave are ideal. The Odyssey is an example of how music can impact a person as Odysseus goes to the war and is lost for a dec ade, but when he hears the blind bard playing a song about the war, Odysseus is overwhelmed with sadness as he is brought back to the war with the music. Through music it lets us understand the character more so we can understand their personal ticks and how music can set off memories or flashbacks.
