The Moby-Dick Marathon team is looking for unwanted copies of Moby-Dick (although we can t imagine why someone would not want this beloved book). For this year s Marathon, we will re-paper maché our white friend with the pages of the book. Obviously, your book will not be returned, but you can feel satisfied in knowing that it will become blubber. Bring any copies you have (especially interesting or illustrated copies) down to the Haynes House/Education Department. The Marathon begins on July 31, so please get your donation in soon! -Krystal Rose Caption- Midnight, Shed: Moby receiving his first layers during last year s marathon.

MEET BRANDON MORGAN Name: Brandon Morgan Title: AV Production and Creative Services Assistant Department: Film Video Archives Extension: 4711 SB: How long have you been at Mystic Seaport? BM: 6 years
SB: What s the best part of your job? BM: The best part of my job is the feeling of accomplishment I get. Whether it s installing exhibit equipment, creating original programming, or providing troubleshooting services I always feel like I m contributing something to the museum and the public. SB: What are you passions/interests outside of the workplace? BM: I have my hand in a little bit of everything; books, amateur astronomy, cooking, film and TV, games of every type, and of course my Transformers collection but I have to say, sometimes you just can t beat sitting out on the deck, smoking a fine cigar, drinking craft beer, and listening to Collective Soul on the stereo. SB: What is your favorite memory of Mystic Seaport? BM: The 2011 Christmas Countdown Calendar project hands down. This was a rather daunting project that we kind of brought upon ourselves. I discussed the original idea with my partner Dan Harvison, who helped me develop it further into what eventually became the finished project. 27 original videos to be shot, edited, and uploaded often with only a matter of days to do so (sometimes less,) with about a month of work to create the artwork for the opening sequence it got pretty stressful. However, it was all worth it. The amount of pride I feel in what we both did far exceeds the trouble we went through. Even now, it s still an impressive feat and speaks volumes on our online presence. Take a look at some other local museums websites and YouTube channels, no one has the same video presence as MYSTIC SEAPORT. If you would like to be featured in the next HR Staff Bulletin, please contact Jeanne Gade at ext. 5332. THIS WEEK FROM THE OPERATIONS COMMITTEE Questions regarding Duty Officer reports and the OPS committee please contact Jenny Doak at x5004. The exhibits department is working on a new sign for the shipyard to direct people to the Charles W. Morgan now that she not quite as visible with her new location on the lift dock. Stay tuned for additional info or look for the sign. The Morgan donation barrels will be getting a little makeover in preparation for the Morgan launch. They will be removed temporarily for painting. Keep an eye out for the new Photo Opportunity displays. There are two directional signs on campus that encourage visitors to take your picture here next to a nice scene and share your picture through Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
