h - - 20 0.in h - - 20 0.in h - - 20 0.in h - - 20 0.in h - - 20 0.in h - - 20 0.in Gameplay h is played ove thee ounds. A ound ends when each playe, but one, has un out of cads in thei hand. At the end of the ound, playes will eveal the cads in thei Hex pile and scoe points based on how many of each cad type they have. On you tun, you will do one of two ths: Mae an Attac o Play a Cad. Mae an Attac Fist, choose an opponent with cads in thei hand to attac. This playe is efeed to as the Defende. h - - 20 0.in h - - 20 0.in h - - 20 0.in h - - 20 0.in h - - 20 0.in h - - 20 0.in h - - 20 0.in h - - 20 0.in h - - 20 0.in h - - 20 0.in h - - 20 0.in h - - 20 0.in h - - 20 0.in h - - 20 0.in h - - 20 0.in h - - 20 0.in h - - 20 0.in h - - 20 0.in h - - 20 0.in h - - 20 0.in h - - 20 0.in h - - 20 0.in Then play any numbe of cads fom you hand faceup to the mile of the table, follow one vey impotant ule: All the cads you play must be the same type. Fo example, if you ae attaced with thee Bell cads, you can bloc with thee Mio cads. The Defende now has the oppotunity to bloc the attac. To bloc an attac, the Defende must play the same numbe of cads as the Attace. The cads used to bloc must all be the same type, but they do not need to be the same type as the cads used to mae the attac. The Defende may choose not to bloc an attac. vs. BLOCKED ATTACK DISCARD PILE If the Defende blocs the attac, place all of the cads used by the Attace and the Defende facedown into the discad pile. If the Defende does not bloc the attac, the Defende places all of the attac cads facedown into thei Hex pile, unde thei Hex pile mae. UNBLOCKED ATTACK DEFENDER S HEX PILE h - - 20 0.in h - - 20 0.in

Play a Cad Some cads have an ability that stats with Play this cad into you Hex pile. On you tun, you may eveal one of these cads and place it into you Hex pile to esolve the cad s ability. Most of these cads allow you to tae anothe tun. You will tae that tun as soon as you finish esolv this cad. Fo a full desciption of abilities of all the cads chec out page 6. Afte you have completed you tun, the playe on you left taes the next tun. Playes may attac the same Defende multiple times in a ow. They may attac whomeve they choose as long as that playe has cads in thei hand. When a playe has no cads in hand, that playe sips thei tun until the ound is ove. The Chalice cad has an ability that eads Play this cad into any playe s Hex pile. The cad wos the same as othe cads that specify you Hex pile, except you may place it into anothe playe s Hex pile instead. Please note: You ae not allowed to loo at the cads in you Hex pile du a ound. To help eep eveyth sepaate, be sue the cads in you Hex pile emain unde you Hex pile mae until you scoe them at the end of the ound. This pevents the cads be used in an attac fom be mixed up with the cads in a playe s hand o Hex pile. Round End The ound ends when only one playe has cads in hand at the end of any playe s tun. That playe places all of the emain cads in thei hand into thei Hex pile. The ound may also end if no playe has any cads in hand at the end of a tun. Playes scoe cads in thei Hex pile at the end of each ound. h - - 20 0.in h - - 20 0.in h - - 20 0.in h - - 20 0.in h - - 20 0.in h - - 20 0.in h - - 20 0.in h - - 20 0.in h - - 20 0.in h - - 20 0.in h - - 20 0.in h - - 20 0.in h - - 20 0.in h - - 20 0.in h - - 20 0.in h - - 20 0.in 4 h - - 20 0.in h - - 20 0.in h - - 20 0.in h - - 20 0.in h - - 20 0.in

Sco All playes eveal all the cads in thei Hex pile, and then scoe points fo each type of cad they evealed, based on the numbe of cads they have of that type. Sco example: Lauen has fou Bells, one Candle, one Boo, and two Mios: she will scoe + + 0 + 2 = 8 points. The numbe of points a set of cads scoes is found in the point value section of the cad. If you only have one copy, you scoe the fist numbe fo that cad. If you have two copies, you scoe the second numbe shown, and so on The last numbe epesents the highest quantity scoed fo that cad. All highe quantities scoe the same amount. Please note: Each type of cad only scoes once egadless of the numbe of copies of that cad you have. Playes announce how many points they scoed and then tae scoe toens equal to that amount and place them facedown in font of them. The numbe of points you scoe in a hand is public infomation until the stat of the next ound. If you scoe fo the fist ound is negative, you scoe zeo points. If you scoe is negative in any othe ound, you subtact those points fom you scoe. You total scoe at any point in the game cannot go below zeo. Afte sco is complete, shuffle all the cads bac togethe facedown and deal each playe the same numbe of cads as wee dealt at the stat of the game. The playe who last had cads in thei hand in the pevious ound will stat the next ound. Repeat this pocess fo the thid and final ound of the game. End of the Game Afte the thid ound, the playes will total thei scoe fom all thee ounds. The playe with the lowest scoe wins the game. If thee is a tie, all playes play aitional ounds until thee is only one playe with the lowest scoe. This may cause one of the peviously non-tied playes to win the game.

Abilities Bell This cad cannot be used to bloc an attac. Boo Instead of ma an attac on you tun, you may place a Boo into you Hex pile. Loo at an opponent s hand, tae a cad fom it, and a it to you hand. Then, tae anothe tun. Note: Remove Boo cads fom the dec in a two-playe game. Candle You may a exactly one Candle cad to any attac you mae o any attac you bloc. A a Candle boosts the numbe of cads in that attac o bloc by one. Fo example, if you attac with thee copies of a cad and one Candle, you opponent would need to bloc with fou cads. You may still mae an attac with any numbe of Candle cads if thee ae no othe cads in the attac. Cauldon Instead of ma an attac on you tun, you may place the Cauldon into you Hex pile. Tae two andom cads fom the discad pile. Loo at them. Place one cad facedown into you Hex pile and place the othe facedown into any othe playe s Hex pile. Since it is not consideed an attac, you may place one of the cads into a playe s Hex pile even if they have no cads in hand. That playe will not now which cad they eceived until the end of the ound. Chalice Instead of ma an attac on you tun, you may place a Chalice into any playe s Hex pile. Since it is not consideed an attac, you may place a Chalice into a playe s Hex pile even if they have no cads in hand. You may play a Chalice into you own Hex pile. If you only have one Chalice in you Hex pile at the end of a ound, you will subtact points fom you scoe. Familia When you ae attaced, you may place a Familia cad fom you hand into you Hex pile to bloc the attac, discad the cads used fo the attac. 6

Fo Example, Thomas attacs May with thee Mio cads. May plays a Familia fom he hand to bloc the Attac. May places the Familia cad facedown into he Hex pile and discads the thee Mio cads. A Familia cad cannot be used to bloc attacs involv Toadstool cads. glass Instead of ma an attac on you tun, you may place the glass into you Hex pile. Loo at you Hex pile, tae a cad fom it, and a it to you hand. Then, tae anothe tun. Mio If you bloc an attac with Mio cad(s), the attac is eflected and the Mio cads used to bloc ae discaded. The Attace becomes the Defende and may choose to bloc the eflected attac o tae the attac cads into thei Hex pile. The Mio cads (and Candle cad if applicable) used to bloc the attac ae immediately placed facedown into the discad pile. If the eflected attac is also bloced us Mio cads, the attac is once again eflected the oles of Attace and Defende ae evesed, the Defende may bloc and the Mio cads ae discaded. Fo example, Peyton attacs Saah with thee Boo cads. Saah blocs with thee Mio cads, the Mio cads ae discaded and Peyton must bloc o tae the thee Boo cads. Peyton blocs with two Mio cads and one Candle cad fom his hand. Those two Mio cads and one Candle cad ae discaded, and Saah must once again bloc an attac of thee Boo cads. She cannot, and taes the thee Boo cads facedown into he Hex pile. Sull Instead of ma an attac on you tun, you may place a Sull into you Hex pile. If you do, loo at the discad pile, tae a cad fom it, and a it to you hand. Then, tae anothe tun. Toadstool Attacs involv Toadstool cads cannot be bloced. Afte attac with a Toadstool cad, the Attace must a a andom cad fom the discad pile to thei own Hex pile without loo at it. The Attace must do that fo each Toadstool cad played du that attac. Toadstool cads have no special effects when used to bloc.

At the stat of the game, they ae each dealt cads. The est of the cads ae placed facedown in the discad pile in the mile of the table. Abby stats the game because she is the youngest. Abby decides to attac. She may attac eithe Bob o Candy. Abby chooses to attac Candy with thee Bell cads. Candy decides to bloc the attac by play thee Candle cads. The thee Bells and thee Candles ae placed facedown in the discad pile. Abby and Candy now have 0 cads in hand. Bob still has. It is now Bob s tun because he is to the left of Abby. Bob plays a Sull cad, which allows him to loo though the discad pile and a one of the cads to his hand. He has to place the Sull cad in his Hex pile, which may cause him to scoe points late if he collects anothe one. Bob selects one of the Candle cads fom the discad pile and places it into his hand. The Sull gives Bob anothe tun immediately afte it s played. At the end of Bob s fist tun, he still has cads in hand because his Sull was eplaced with a Candle. h - - 20 0.in h - - 20 0.in h - - 20 0.in h - - 20 0.in h - - 20 0.in h - - 20 0.in h - - 20 0.in h - - 20 0.in h - - 20 0.in h - - 20 0.in h - - 20 0.in h - - 20 0.in Bob taes his next tun and attacs Abby with thee Chalice cads and one Candle cad. Exactly one Candle cad can be aed to any attac. Abby has the oppotunity to bloc this fou-cad attac with fou cads of the same type. Abby does not have fou cads of the same type, no thee and a Candle, so she accepts the attac. She places the fou attac cads in he Hex pile, facedown unde he Hex pile mae. At the end of Bob s second tun, he has 9 cads in hand. Abby and Candy still have 0. It is now Candy s tun. Candy decides to attac Bob with thee Familia cads. Bob chooses to bloc that attac with thee Mio cads. The ability of the Mio causes that attac to be eflected bac to the Attace. Bob s thee Mio cads ae discaded as they have been used to bloc. Candy now has the option to bloc the thee Familia cads. Candy blocs with two Toadstool cads and one Candle cad. The Familias, Toadstools, and Candle ae all placed facedown in the discad pile. Candy now has 4 cads in hand. Abby still has 0, and Bob has 6. It is now Abby s tun. Play continues until the end of a tun in which only one (o no) playes still have cads in hand. 8 Cedits Game Design: Buce Basi Game Development: Tavis R.
