Áras Inis Gluaire/Erris Arts Centre is delighted to present a five day feast of music, comedy, art & storytelling from July 12-16 in Erris. For over 20 years Féile Iorrais has brought exceptional talent to play Belmullet and its environs. This year features the finest of Mayo musicians from Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann, plus John Hoban and Emer Mayock, as they gently guide us through the magnificent Mayo landscape with story and song, and a special guest on the night from Zimbabwe, Tura Aratura, who dances Sean Nós like no other on this isle. Two Ireland s finest comedians, Joe Rooney & Patrick McDonnell, are from The Father Ted show, and in Further Ted they present a night of stand-up and musical comedy. A unique event takes place on Claggan Island where one of Mayo s most exciting artists, Joanna Hopkins, will be turning Bent grass into paper sculptures. The whole family can come along and participate while being entertained by the raving Rev Sinclair, juggler extraordinaire. In O D s bar you can experience a night of stonking hillbilly music from the Fake McCoys and it all finishes off on Sunday with a beautiful show, A Message of Peace, from the great Galway singer/storyteller, Seán Tyrrell. Here he tells the incredible story of one of the nation s great forgotten heroes, the Fenian John Boyle O Reilly.

Dé Domhnaigh / Sunday ú Iúil / th July Message of Peace with Sean Tyrell The story of Irish hero John Boyle O'Reilly This is a deeply moving, engaging and remarkable story of a lesser-known, Irish hero John Boyle O Reilly (1844-1890); in both spoken word and song; mapping his life and work. Pickled (in places) with Tyrrell s own observations on our own times and condition, leaving no doubt as to the passion, as relevant now as they were when first written; the title poem and song being a perfect example.
